Didn't they do it because Pixar told them "No Aladdin 2" and to stand behind their product by fronting the cheddar for theatrical release?

I just got back from Pacific Rim and it is the hypest shit ever and if you haven't seen it you need to get off your booty right now and go see it I am not kidding.

Also Hannibal is best character this is not a discussion.

Also also I really hope my copy of War of the Monsters works still after all these years because after seeing that movie all I want to do is play that game (or anything else with giant robots and giant monsters fighting I don't know.)

pacific rim is like getting kicked in the nuts with a rocket

i came out of that movie feeling physically exhausted

this may have been because, as my friends later told me, i was laughing silently the entire time any action scene came up, and both of my legs were on heavy vibrate

I just silently, rapid clapped my hands.

I've seen the original Godzilla film (Gojira, you know, japanese version) and to say that at some points I was reminded of the terror from Godzilla's rampage is accurate. Those things could be scary at times.

And then there were the robots. Every little thing about them just makes me so pop flyin'. The clunky movement, any time something detail moved. I can't explain why that got me so excited.

I feel this is somewhat appropriate

my entire party of like 8 people just died when the jaeger punched through a building and set off the perpetual motion machine. that and the elbow rocket and boat sword were the highlights of the movie.

AND BABY MAKO HOLY SHIT BEST KID ACTOR EVER.

basically it was the best thing ever

Pacific Rim managed to convince despite a shaky start, occasionally hamfisted acting and a mediocre story. The visuals are really impressive.

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron announced.
I hope this means they'll build up Thanos more throughout Guardians of the Galaxy and use him in the third Avengers.

Superman and Batman movie rumoured. Looks like it's going to be Dark Knight Returns influenced again.

Just saw Cloud Atlas.

Holy shit. Best 3 hours of movie ever.

Favorite bits were the Neo Seoul parts, the Jim Broadbent Writer parts, and the Halle Berry Journalist parts.

Amazing film.

Yeah pretty much. I had a lot of fun but it has a lot of "I'm a blockbuster movie" problems. I like that it tried to be "omg, drifting is really emotional!" but the movie would have needed more time exploring the concept and coming up with interesting things about the guys drifting, instead of having super-nerdy-science-dudebro, very-america-commander-man and rough-dad-with-jerk-son-he-loves spout the same stuff you've already seen in 20 movies before. God were the characters boring and shallow. It's like the movie hesitated between more Jaeger on Kaiju action, more Drifting stuff and the emotional package attached to doing it, and more generic blockbuster humour/ inspirational speeches, then decided to cram all three in something that wasn't long enough to be satisfying in all aspects.

At least nobody had sex.
