It is one of the only times I've seen a magical artifact of doom not go off like a nuclear bomb when broken though.

That wasn't in the books? I thought that was pretty stupid too.

Nope. The books kinda implied a bit that if it was possible to break the Elder Wand, someone (like Dumbledore) would have done it already. The wand can only cease to exist if it's master dies of natural causes. Harry buried it with Dumbledore so that when Harry dies, the wand will die too.

To be honest, part 1 was so much better than part 2. The pacing was great, it was action packed, the tension was top notch.

But then the second film had barely any material other than the gringotts escape and the battle at hogwarts that after the first thirty minutes, it felt like the majority of the rest of the movie was spent waiting for the dramatic climax. And don't get me started on how dumb the "I'm taking you with me" flying around Hogwarts battle between Harry and Voldemort was, or how stupid it was that Molly popped Bellatrix like a low CGI-effect balloon.

The movie was alright, but after the solid foundation of the first film, it just lost the momentum and careened off the cliff.

The epilogue was great though, even if they looked wonky from fake aging. Especially the swelling of the music from the end of the early films. The memories made me tear up a bit in the theatre.

Agreed, I can't see how they figured that would be very logical due to the sheer amount of power stored in the wand.

Also, another issue would be the destruction of Ravenclaw's Diadem. While it isn't a big issue I still don't like how they destroyed it with the basilisk fang as opposed to the books.
It was much better when it was destroyed by the Fiendfyre Crabbe unleashed, it showed that if the spell and magic put behind it is powerful enough, horcruxes could be destroyed.
The destruction in the film was lackluster because they presented basilisk poison as the one and only weapon against them.

I always thought Harry snapping the wand was a much better idea than just burying it again. I mean, I dunno why he didn't fix his own wand in the movie, because that was like a major point in his character development, but honestly it makes more sense for your first instinct to be "this thing has started wars why not i dunno get rid of it"

Except the book majorly implied that if the wand could be destroyed that easily then someone, Dumbledore especially, would have done it before. Going by the Legend of the Hallows, the three Hallows were made by Death himself. Remember when it became a plot point that Harry's Invisibility Cloak was the only one of its kind that never got damaged and its enchantment never weakened?

The book implied it, yes, but the movie did not.

And I still think it was a better way to get rid of it, and it would have fit with the theme of how despite the greatest plans of the greatest men, they could be broken or fixed by the most simple of things. Everything in the book was this post-mortem gambit by Dumbledore, but it all only worked because Harry unmagically, unheroically, and completely barbarically stole Draco's wand. In the end, it wasn't even a climactic battle, it was just Harry telling Voldemort that he had already won, and then Voldemort basically commits the stupidest suicide in the history of literature. It would have made sense, and it would have been rather poignant, if Harry could have just snapped the wand and ended the plans and the scheming right there.

Dude, Cleese is broke after his divorce, he was in a fucking Swedish commercial for a chain of electronic stores for gods sake. He'll do anything if you pay him now.

Oh god, no aviation boner is enough to make up for that. To me, anyway.
