I don't want to see a carbon copy of MiB, not when ticket prices are upwards of ten bucks. Maybe when it comes out on DvD, but it will need to show it's not "just MiB with dead people" because fuck movie clones.

You guys have honestly never seen something you liked through to the end and had regrets that it was over? Yes, it's MiB with dead people and Ryan Reynolds (not sure why people hate him) but look at it like this.

It's a premise you already know you like in a style you already know you like. You don't have to do all of this advanced research into what kind of movie it's projected to be, and what the story is supposed to be about. I mean shit, I wished I'd had that confidence before wasting $15 to see Haywire just to find out it was just some spy drama advertised as an action movie.

This way I know I'll like the premise, and be able to enjoy all of the new shit it doesn't have in common with MiB.

Seeing a movie just because it's safe and familiar is what spawns the generic schlock, just like in video games.

Only if they do it too often does that happen. There's been enough new movies out that I feel like they deserve some leeway.

After Earth.
Django Unchained.
Oblivion.
Dark Shadows.
Hensel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
The Purge

PS......4 out of those 6 were movies nobody liked.

You pick which.

Point is sucky movies can come from fresh ideas, and awesome movies can come from rehashed movies.

You could do a lot worst the RIPD, just judging from the trailer. I like that Bridges is essentially trotting out his rooster cogburn character again.

Oh. Well.. no you're not. We may not agree on some things, and I can make dumb, irrational decisions sometimes, but that doesn't make you an idiot that you disagree with those things. =) I can be friendly and reasonable, too.

On topic: I'm looking forward to RIPD. Say what you will about that, but I want to see James Hong miming a gunfight with ghastly deceased felons with a banana.

You may now begin making out.

Wait, no. This is the movie thread. Slow facebattle in the rain while cupping eachother's faces. The camera will pan around you guys until you break away, smile at eachother and walk away hand in hand. Roll credits.

Wow, you were quick. By the way, is that Deathproof in your signature? It's been too long for me to remember.

finally getting around to watching tin tin! absolutely gorgeous and not uncanny valley like some mocap movies.

it's bugging me though - when he's in the haddock estate he tells the two men someone broke into his apartment - he's clearly british though. later, back in his flat, he actually calls it a flat. is apartment and flat interchangeable in britain? i consider myself fairly familiar with british english but this is bugging me because i can't tell if it's normal to switch between the two words or if the writers just blanked out for a second.
