Yes, there's probably already an old thread a few pages back, let's try not to be angry autistic manchildren about that and just skip those first dozen or so retarded posts about "derp derp why u maek topic loloolol"

I think A Series of Unfortunate Events has sidled its way to the top of my heart alongside The Count of Monte Cristo. Snicket has such a strong, unique voice, I find the charm inescapable. Beneath a few layers of quirky anecdotes and bizarre humour lies a powerful yet simple emotional core about forgiveness and the nature of nobility, with more than a couple of creative metaphors along the way. Not to mention being a children's book series that subtly encourages reading in an entirely clever way that never feels like a cheesy after school special - by no means an easy task. Definitely one of the best series I've come across; I daresay I enjoyed them more than the Discworld books.

I've also been thinking of picking up something by Murakami, but I haven't found any of his works for cheap enough to take the plunge. I don't suppose any of you can recommend I do so regardless?

and I swear to god if you fags just start three word posts along the lines of "read harry potter and the assface of maudlin, was p good" with no discussion or elaboration at all I will kick you in the dick so hard

Is it normal that I'm terrified to post anything at the moment?

what are they like

what are they about

why do you like them

has the author done anything else good

would you recommend them

are they trashy paperbacks to read on the train or will you keep them next to your bed for many years to come

is there anything unique or interesting about them

This feels like a literature class in community college.

It's not the teacher, it's the students.

I don't want to be quizzed on the books I like.

And it's not because I like harlequin novels...

I don't know if you've had discussions with people before about things, but typically, they involve the exchanging of specific information, views, and opinions. Discussions with people are good because different people are likely to posess different information, views, and opinions than you do, and obtaining that new information, view, or opinion can often be interesting - maybe even changing your own views and opinions! This is called social interaction, and when people interact socially, the more fleshed out the information, view, or opinion that they are sharing, the more interesting it becomes! This is why people do not often have very interesting discussions when they share their information, views, or opinions like a robot with one line of dialogue; "I ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK." When people supply the reasoning behind said information, view, or opinion - "I enjoyed reading this book because it reminded me of my scandinavian boyhood roaming through the corn fields" - we learn not only a lot more about the book in question, but also the person. It injects humanity into a discussion, and makes the entire process that more rewarding.

And why aren't you even trying, Nachalnik? You just saw that thread and decided to shit over it for no reason, instead of having an actual, interesting conversation. How can you complain that people ignore your posts when you're only unfunny waste of space, time and resources? You get the attention you deserve, miss.

Spoony, I'd talk about books with you, but I haven't read anything in ages.

I'm not sure how to add to "I like to read about the mass slaughter of Jews everyday."

But next time I'll try by gum!
