So, I just got a Gigaware gamepad(picture) last month, and since then have had little luck trying to figure out how to use it.
From what I understand, only a small amount of games support gamepads. I tried to use something called Pad Tie to use it for things like Minecraft, but it borked and wont save configurations anymore.

The only game I have seen completely support the gamepad so far is Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7. On the controls menu, it detects the gamepad and lets you configure it in-game.
I am not sure what games I would want to use the gamepad for, but with not being able to use it on pretty much anything, I cant figure that out.

Does anybody have experience with gamepads or know where to find a list of games that support it like LegoHP57 did?
Or maybe suggest a program that works really well in allowing the gamepad to be used for any program you want.

Note: Not sure if this should have been posted in "General Game Gabbin'" or not. Depends on the amount of discussion this brings up.

Generally gamepads should auto find their drivers when you plug them in.

If not, you may want to google the model number and drivers, or search for someone who made some their own.

You probably weren't looking for this sort of suggestion, but if you're open to the idea I'd suggest picking up a wired Xbox 360 controller. Nearly every game I own supports it.

Alternately, you could try out something like Xpadder, which converts the controller's input to mouse/keyboard stuff.

Well, I already bought this gamepad I got for like 15 dollars.
I don't own an Xbox360, and would rather not spend 50 dollars on a controller.

Also, Xpadder cost cheddar.

For gamepad gaming I just use my old PS2 controller plugged into a PS2-to-USB cable I bought off Amazon for about $1.50. No driver installation necessary.

I know for sure that Bastion supports both gamepads and mouse control, but I'm not sure about anything else outside of emulators.

Saints Row 3, TF2, Sonic Generations and a few emulators support gamepads. I use a logitech one shaped like a PS2 controller, myself.

Yeah, the wired ones are way cheaper than wireless.

If that's still to much, the cheapo Gamestop brand ones still work with all the drivers, which so far seem to have near universal compatibility.

Don't get the gamestop brand 360 controllers. It's madcatz. The sticks break pretty easily and i've gone though two where it's like you power on a game system with the stick tilted and it's always moving in that direction even when neutral.

I've had mine for a few years, and the worst that's happen is the shoulder buttons getting iffy after being dropped dozens of times.
One of the times, leverage actually worked out so that it was pulled towards the floor by the cable pretty hard.

It's not the highest quality, but it'll withstand minor abuse.

I used a Logitech f310 (or something like that, if you google it you'll know what I mean) for a bit and at first it worked fine but after like 4 months it just kinda stopped working almost randomly and was just generally being a sack of booty.

After that I said screw it and just bought an actual (wired) 360 controller and it works just fine.

Does my USB SNES controller count as a gamepad?
Because let me tell you, I can play the shit out of some Cave Story+ and Rayman Origins with that thing.

I just use my PS3 controller and MotioninJoy to emulate it as a 360 controller. Played Dark Souls and Jet Set Radio with it so far.
