So this is a thread to talk about the olser classics we remember as kids.

Its also for questions like "What was your first console" or "How did you get your first console?" and so on.

Pingas.

The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle was the game I played most often on the NES.

When I was around 6 I used to basically be babysat at the babysitter's house. They had a Genesis and an SNES, with Sonic 2 and Super Mario All-Stars. I could never get past the poison-y world. Best part of All Stars for me was SMB3, although this wasn't All-Star+World. Probably the reason I never liked it as much as the first three.

The first console our family actually owned was an N64.

My first console was the N64. The games I liked most were Mario 64, and Mario Party. Big part of my childhood was fearing Boo's Haunted Mansion place so much that we never wanted to go there, or even pass the hall down there, and having red circles burned into my palms.

My first console was an N64 in 2000 (although I already had a GBC for about two years). Before that, any time I played a game, it was on the PC.
The first game I ever played was either Sonic the Hedgehog, Doom or Doom 2, and I think this happened sometime around 1994. I remember Sonic the Hedgehog being the first console game I ever played, since the daycare I went to when I was 3 and 4 years old had a NES and Genesis, although the younger kids weren't allowed to play on them so it was only once.

Super Nintendo, with the GameBoy Color Pak thing so I could play Pokemon Red on my TV. Pilotwings, Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, all the best games ever.

This minus the Super Gameboy (I think is what it's called)
Pilotwings was frustrating but fun, I didn't get LttP until a while after we moved in to this house (by which time I had a Gamecube), and SMW and DKC was my life. I've beaten nearly all of the games I own for SNES except for LttP, but since I have an emulator I hardly touch my actual console even though it still works.

I never finished LttP either, but I had the patience of a crack addict back then so that was a pipe dream.

I remember it took me and my brother over 3 years to beat ALttP. It was fucking awesome when it was finally over. That's still one of my favorite games of all time.

Also, I remember my brother fighting the Elite 4 on the Super Gameboy. He did it because I wanted to see and help out. He lost to Agatha the first time, then died to Lance the second. Finally beat them both and we celebrated.

Then we found out there was a fucking Champion. And it was Gary Motherfucking Oak. We were so mad. It took him like half an hour of heal spamming to take him down, but the ending was so satisfying by then.

And then the next week I found Mewtwo randomly and flipped my shit. Too bad we used the Master Ball on Zapdos...

Let's see
Some of the first games I played were Chip's challenge and the PC version of Maui Mallard.
My first actual gaming console/handheld was the GBA, which I got back in Xmas of 2001. Back then I mostly wanted one so I could play Pokemon, but mom had gotten me Super Mario Advance and WarioLand 4 instead, and I got Pkmn Crystal a while later. I guess playing those opened me up to lots of other games, too.

First game I ever owned was Pokemon Crystal. I can still remember the events leading up to the day I got it, too.
Ever since I can remember I've always been obsessed with Pokemon as a kid. If you can name a price of Pokemon merchandise, I probably had it. But mysteriously, I never paid the actual games any mind.
When I was about seven years old, I noticed a boy playing with a Game Boy on a swingset at our neighborhood's park. Curious, I sat down next to him and peeked at the screen. He was playing one of the original games, either Red or Blue. I was fascinated. I had to own one of these games.
Later that day, I pleaded with my mother to buy a Game Boy and a Pokemon game. After a few days she gave in, and we headed to Target to make the purchase. (My mother was very easily pursuaded; my father, not so much)
When we got there, I raced to the electronics section. There I discovered they had released a newer version of the Game Boy, the Advance. I hastily pointed at a box in the cabinet, insistent on buying the Glacier model (much to the dismay of my mother, who suggested I buy a PANK one).
After procuring a system, I had the challenge of choosing a version to play. Little did I know, Crystal had been recently released and the game the boy I saw playing was in fact an older release. Oblivious to this, I was set on buying a first-gen game. It was only after my mother pointed to a poster for Crystal and noted that I could play as a girl in it did I begin to change my mind.
After a few long minutes of indecisiveness, I finally gave in and chose Crystal. As soon as we got home I tore those boxes apart, plopped some AA batteries and the cartridge in, and began playing. I recall being glued to that screen for quite a few weeks after.
