SO, MAX PAYNE. The new one is out soon, and it's time for a fucking thread for one of the best game series ever. If you haven't played the first two, you're a disappointment to me and your family. But you can redeem yourself if you begin the long path of depression that is Payne.

If you're one of those losers that's never heard Max Payne, well it's coming at ya. Max Payne is a story about a cop wronged, who experiences tragedy after tragedy. Basically his life is one sadness after another. To learn about Max's story, there's a comic book being written, the first issue's out for free on the website.

Payne 1 and 2 had a unique system of cut scenes due to budget restraints. To match the established noir story telling, cut scenes were done in a graphic novel form narrated by Max's voice actor, the art was wonky and the faces were reaction image quality, but the narration was evocative and well written. Payne 3 returns with actual cutscenes, but with some of the narration cut out and represented in order to retain that comic book feel.

To get a good grasp of Max's past, you can read comics that bridge the gap between 2 and 3 which also discuss the events that brought him to the point.

Youtube has all kinds of videos to describe the game n' shit but I figured since the Launch Trailer's out might as well start the thread.

I am afraid that my nostalgia shades are going to keep me from seeing how shitty this game really is, but I want it.

I actually never played the previous two. I hear nothing but good things about them though. I'm just glad I don't have any nostalgia goggles, so when I pick this up later today I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awesome.

Played through the story mode on hard and then I passed out. This game's fucking great. Even when I was getting frustrated all it took was a little creativity to get over the humps. And those moments where you feel like a fucking American John Woo are some of the best feelings in all of vidya. Plus, Max's narration is fucking classy.

The first one is okay, the second is amazing.

I beat Max Payne 3. My one issue with the game is that normal mode felt more like hard mode. It made shoot-dodging nearly useless since after you hit the ground you were an easy target, and you're pretty much made of cardboard in normal mode as well.

Got this yesterday. Haven't played online, and I haven't beat it yet, but from what I've played so far, daisies I love it. I love how you can blow their eyes out if you shoot them in the head.
