Ah yes, Bioshock. One hell of a series. I never played 1 or 2, but i'm definitely going to get Bioshock Infinite.

Discuss.

Please redirect to this thread.

EDIT: Although I suppose if this is general Bioshock discussion, it can work. There's a Bioshock 2 thread around as well, but nothing for the series as a whole, it seems.

Bioshock 1 was the bomb but I skipped 2 because it's allegedly bad, made by different devs, and only brings plot holes to the story and I don't want to ruin my image of Rapture. Looking forward to Infinite

I get the feeling I've just said all that can be discussed about the series. HOPE I'M WRONG.

No, 2 was fantastic. It improved on gameplay and graphics though its story was worse than 1's (you simply can't top Ryan). I can't say which game I like more, but you should definitely try 2 too.

2 was pretty fun. I found the dual wielding plasmid/gun system was really good. I just wish they improved on the good/bad system with the little sisters. Saving them is ALWAYS better because you get the adam you would have from harvesting them later along with some sort of plasmid that helps you get ADAM easier from corpses. There should be some sort of merit to killing them.

I liked the contrast between BioShock 1 and 2's story. In 1, you're fighting against a power hungry objectivist to allegedly free Rapture and help someone else, rather than fulfiling your own goals. Note "Allegedly".

In BioShock 2, you are fighting against a crazed collectivist who believes in the greater good above all else. In BioShock 2, you play as a Big Daddy, which are commonly seen as mindless slaves. But you have your own goals; you want to save your "daughter". So, the way I see the story of BioShock 2 is that you are fighting against someone who is all for the common good for the sake of your own needs and wants; specifically, your "daughter".

Bioshock 2 was awesome flat straight.

Sinclair is best character and I love him and having to kill him in the end made me really really sad.

I'm going to Spoiler the rest of this because I want to know what exactly I may have done wrong in 2
I saved every little sister

I saved the first woman.

I was generally good

I killed the guy who locked himself up in the transit station

In the end, my "daughter" injected herself with my soul so as to be with me forever

Was I about to die? Did I get a good ending?

Killing Grace is a BIG BIG no no, and so is not killing Alexander. However nobody really gives a shit about the middle dude so yeah. Albiet it's the "best" ending if you save him, only on the fact that you did everything right.

Also yeah, Alpha is pretty badly damaged by the explosion that happens just before the end. He's dying at that point. If you do really bad, but have SOME good, you can convince Elanor to let you die without taking your super-evil soul and it's incredibly depressing.

You are supposed to SAVE Alexander, not kill him. His pre recorded tape says to kill him, but because I got an achievement for not killing all of them, I assume that it was right not to kill him.

I was under the impression killing Alexander was the good option

I mean, the dude begs you to put him out of his misery.
