Intro
Chances are you already know what Fallout New Vegas is, but just in case, the intro should clear everything up about the Wasteland and why there is now a 9mm-large hole in our Courier's cranium.
Say, this reminds me of a movie I saw once- something about someone getting shot in the head, waking up after a coma and killing everyone involved in the failed murder.
It's on the tip of my tongue, I swear.

Because I guess our character has a strange immunity to pointblank head shots, he/she wakes up a few days later! Hopefully I won't have to bite off anyone's tongue and crawl out of a hospital.
I don't think I can bite his tongue out from that far.
So... I'm alive. Let's just ignore the giant hole left in my skull, possible lead poisoning in my brain and the bajillion infections that must've occured since this is clearly the dirtiest clinic I've ever seen. I mean, this guy can't be a doctor - he doesn't even have a
labcoat.
What's our name? Might as well ask what our build will be.
I was thinking of finding a katana and basically reenacting Kill [S]Bill[/S] Benny or as a viking because yes, there are axes and epic beards in this game.
For reference:
Strength - Melee damage, carry weight.
Perception - "Radar" range, explosives damage, lockpick and energy weapons.
Endurance - Health, unarmed damage, boosts survival skill.
Charisma - Speech, Barter.
Intelligence - Number of skill points per level, repair, science and medicine.
Agility - Guns, sneak, action points.
Luck - Boosts all skills a bit, critical chance and also makes for easy cheddar in casinos.
Skills
Energy Weapons/Guns/Explosives/Melee Weapons/Unarmed determines damage and accuracy with those types of weapons.
Repair allows me to repair guns and other things like robots in the wasteland. Damaged weapons jam, break or missfire.
Medicine allows me to abuse stimpacks in combat and pretty much break the game if you get enough.
Science/Lockpick opens up safes and computers. Basically it means shortcuts through some doors and extra ammo.
Sneak does exactly what it says, Barter convinces all the merchants to drop their prices because we're just *that* handsome.
Speech determines what speech checks I can pass (Barter does this as well sometimes) and makes for some more interesting dialogue.
So... what's our name?
