Got it a couple days ago on the sale they had, anyone else have it?

The search is glitched or something for me cause it only searches for posts containing the tags on the current page. But I didn't see a thread for a few pages.

Most people play LoL because its free, although some of us have put cheddar into it. I haven't played HoN past seeing it at my friends, but it looked very much like DotA and was a bit confusing compared to LoL for me. I personally prefer LoL but I think there may be a few here who play both or maybe just HoN.

I play HoN, and by "play HoN" I mean scramble and titter in no-stat matches because it's taking me a while to adjust to all the new champions and items. I wish the shop menu was displayed better and was a bit easier for newcomers to get into; but overall the game is pretty fun. Gameplay's a lot faster-paced than LoL, although more often than not games are decided in the beginning by which team's carry gets fed first. Based on my experience there's not much you can do to come back from that. It's a bit harder to get into than LoL, and I don't like the graphics/display as much (honestly I have a difficult time telling which champions are on my team), but it's a nice change of pace and when I get over my personal frustration over not being familiar with things, it's fun. Seem to be a lot of ragequitters, too.

Also in-game voice chat is v. nice.

Having just gotten the game myself, I used to play dota, there's not a lot of disconnect but it's been so long that there's roughly 20 heroes, I have no idea what they do, let alone the ones that I have a vague idea of who they're dota counterparts are because they are fused from 2 or 3 of them.

Like a sensible person, when I'm playing alone, I go on casual to get used to it, thinking "Hey, maybe there'll be less elitist douchebags expecting you to be absolutely perfect at the game you just got, and that the fact you just got it proves the fact you are unworthy to play it."
Guess who was wrong, if anything there's more. You're in fucking casual mode guys, stop expecting to win and have some fun!

Dota games - Getting exactly one set and if you pick one wrong item you lose the game.
How is this exactly fun. U:

 I have to say, what's more fun, going according to a set or picking random items that make you die indefinitely? Hmm..

Nevermind the fact that a lot of champions can be built with attack or magic, and some characters using tank builds are viable.
And if you pick items completely at random you're a troll and shouldn't be playing.

You should take notes from guides and tweak them to your playstyle.

Both HoN and LoL follow a "core build" logic: there are two or three items each character requires, but after that, you adjust their build to the situation who is on the enemy team, which character is doing the most damage, are people buying wards?, etc. Always, always adjust your builds. No game is the same. If you use the same build each time you are most likely doing it terribly wrong.

Also, it's a team game, so even if you have a totally fucked team, if you work together you can still beat even a bunch of carries as a bunch of supports.

Don't ever base your playstyles off of guides, even ones by high ELO players. Most of the time they are full of shit anyways.

It has three, given that its a DotA clone thats two more than the game it was based on.

Personally, I really like it, though their custom heroes and items are starting to get out of hand compared to the original.
