Steamyyy...

Seriously, though, I've heard bad stuff about this thing. Isn't it Valve's download service? A lot of people complain about the speed.

Uh, why? Everything, for me at least, installs really quickly, and, every online game I've played has been absolutely fine.

Steam is a fantastic method of distributing the products, and I only had a few qualms about it until recently, when they released the Steam Community. Previously, it was just the fact that I had to be online to play any of the games that annoyed me. Now, with the Steam Community, everything lags much more, and not just for me. The community eats up system resources and causes serious lag, and prevents you from opening two programs at once (I always open the SDK and Counter-Strike: Source so I can test the map as soon as I need to see if a certain part of a map I'm making works). Really, just a bad idea all around.
