So, Minecraft. It... sure is a game... where you dig? And build?

Sorry, I'm completely lost as to how to actually describe the game.

But that's not important. The important thing is that we actually have a discussion thread for this game!

So in recent developments:
/Infdev/ is now Minecraft Alpha, and Creative is now Minecraft Classic. Confusion ahoy!
Minecarts. I've got a MASSIVE rideable rail going between two continents at the moment, as well as a smaller one going from my spawn to my skybase. I'll have to post screenshots when I'm fully finished.
Multiplayer Survival mode. That should be pretty fun, right?
PIG RIDING! HELLS YEAH!

Also, how many people bought the game ($10)? I'm just wondering, because if a few did we could set up a succession game here!

But wait, what is this 'five bucks' business? I bought it for ten.

No... I definitely said $10. You must've misread it or something.

And I definitely did not say Minecraft Alpha is the new /indev/ instead of /infdev/. Clearly.

...
Okay maybe I should just go to sleep now before I type anything else.

I like the interfaces and idea, but it's just cripplingly boring without anybody to share the infdev experience with. I can't wait for multiplayer to come out for it.

Excuse the double-post but holy shit I am reading all these updates

Iron doors, buttons, pressure pads, actual power sources, jesus christ DF mode engage

It all sounds so spectacularly awesome (new ore, 6 new craftables, wires) until you realise that the sole purpose of all of them at the moment... is to open doors.
EXCEPT for the switch, which, when placed at a T-junction of a rail, changes the direction of the track. Which... would probably be awesome if trains were added, but not so useful yet.

Also, for those wondering what was added:
1: New, red ore. It looks like a red gunpowder when mined.
2: Doors can open by supplying them with power.
3: Iron doors, which can only be opened with power, and not normally.
4: Switches. Count as a power source when on. Also does that rail thing I just talked about. (stick over cobblestone)
5: Pressure plates. Count as a power source when stepped on. (3 wood or smooth[furnace]stone horizontally)
6: Buttons. Work like switches, but automatically turn themselves off after a short while. (2 smooth stone vertically)
7: Power source. Count as always on (red dust over stick)
8: Wires. Put the red ore on the ground to make a wire. Can go up slopes like rails, and can have tri-junctions and four-junctions. Stepping on them removes them. As you can guess, they connect power sources to doors.

I don't know if other stuff other than the switch will change rail directions though.

Edit: yes they do. The wire needs to be pointing towards the middle piece of the track though.

Edit again: you can build a wire going underground. if you have it like this:

___++__
++___++
Where plusses are blocks, and underscores are air/wire.
You need to make sure the underground part does have access to fresh air and isn't completely closed off though.
