I’ve written about this already, so I’ll just leave it as a link for you fine people and let nature take its course. But yes, the saga continues: the notorious Tim ‘Edge Games’ Langdell is trying to arrange an injunction against and damages from EA’s Mirror’s Edge.

That he’s after the biggest of all targets this time – well, it’s either proof of just how far he’s willing to take his feeling that he can lay total claim to a commonly-used English word, or it’s a last gasp in the hope of a Go Away fee. Let’s just hope it doesn’t cost us Mirror’s Edge 2.

This is absurd...
Like...I don't really know how to respond to how stupid this is.

fifty years ago Tim would've just tried to start a fight with EA instead of suing them

I hope he wins, even if it is a bit absurd.

Hmm. I've never heard about this before.

Umm. Is he really suing over just the word Edge in the title? He can't be that stupid. There must be more to this. Maybe there are similarities between his game and Mirror's Edge.

Okay, that's all there is to this article. Well, let's try clicking the link to a previous article.

Tim Langdell is once again attempting to assert ownership of the word 'edge', this time claiming that EA's 2008 title Mirror's Edge constitutes trademark infringement.
Okay, that doesn't really tell me anything. Is there any more to this article?

Okay, this is some bullshit. I honestly don't care anymore. Whether or not Langdell has a legitimate case, it'll probably be swept under the rug anyway.

Thanks a lot, online video game journalism.

he once sued a small indie company because they made an iPhone app called Edge
he sues every game with edge in the title and recently on his sites homepage it said MIRRORS, a game by EDGE, you can see where this is going

The guy thinks he can just sue every company that uses the word "edge" in one of their game names. He's just stupid. He's been at this for over a year now, I believe.

He's also the guy running the EDGE TF2 servers, notoriously some of the worst TF2 servers ever. I'm not sure if they are still around, though.

Try this:

Long story short: yes, he really is suing over the use of the name.

EA won't lose, so we can at least rejoice in Tim Langdell's eventual downfall.
