The class balance isn't all that great. In fact, they haven't fixed some of the broken classes since the game's initial release. If I recall correctly, the useless ones right now are the Zealot, Runepriest, Shadow Warrior, Engineer, Magus, and Warrior Priest (but only for doing damage, they're great healers).

Play what you want, but keep in mind that all these classes fall behind in PvP compared to every other class with the same role. It sucks to be forced to choose between playing something cool and being able to win evenly matched fights, but that's pretty much how the end-game works right now.

yea im playing it for the pvp, the Realm vs Realm is pretty fucking sweet. once you hit 40 you can go for the city sieges

and <3 merlin
