So, I couldn't find a thread for this but I always find it a good way to spread knowledge of our favourite up and coming games from small developers or teams.

First off:

Infinity Quest for Earth

Beautiful game, procedural universe using seeds to keep down data costs (Huge galaxy of 200billion full planets, asteroids, moons, gas giants, stars, pulsars, etc. stored as numbers in a massive equation). Did I mention it's a sandbox mmo with newtonian physics?

Still in development, maybe beta within a few years. I've been following it for two years. I am excite. There is a prototype that came out awhile ago for the combat system. It's really old now (can't compare to the actual engine much anymore) but it feels so good to have newtonian dog fights.

Another is Aero Empire.

I found it through a clanmate from TBO who is the concept artist. He does some really good stuff for Infinity and his work for Aero Empire is also excellent. Kinda Jules Verne steampunk meets asian design and cell shading.

The world is covered in a massive, very dense cloud layer and the only inhabitable parts are mountains that pokes through. Dirgibles and a few little glider-like fighters are your vehicles.

DEFCON

Quote:
Inspired by the 1983 cult classic film, Wargames, DEFCON superbly evokes the tension, paranoia and suspicion of the Cold War era, playing on the fascinating aspects of psychological gameplay that occur during strategic nuclear warfare.

You play a General hidden deep within an underground bunker. Your mission is to successfully exterminate your enemy's civilian population whilst saving your own. Points are awarded or lost depending on both the efficacy and thoroughness of your nuclear vendetta and the number of your own civilian deaths. In order to win you must wipe out the enemy population and simultaneously disable the enemy's ability to retaliate against you. This is an extremely difficult task since launching an attack on the enemy exposes the positions of your own Ground Silos, Subs and Bombers the moment they launch nuclear weapons, making you extremely vulnerable and exposed to a crushing counter-attack.

Desperate attempts must be made to form fast, tactical alliances, alliances that may at any moment break-down to become the treacherous and most deadly of betrayals. Everyone looks to each other in a state of nervous suspense and paranoid accusation. In all-out nuclear Armageddon, everybody dies, everybody loses, you just have to make sure you lose the least!

La-Mulana, Bonesaw, Knytt/Knytt stories, Merry gear solid and MGS2, The power, The Trilby Series, Cave story, 1213, and Iji are all great games. Maybe later I'll post pics from them.

How about we post games everybody hasn't already heard about?

Edmund, for example; my favourite rape-based platformer.

It's a very uncomfortable experience. Not pleasant at all, but it does what a good game should - evoke a strong emotional reaction.

Thematically it's probably nsfw, but there's no giant dicks on the screen or anything.

Been playing Holdover lately. Underwater centric platformer. Really challenging, you have almost no margin for error. The graphics are a little... strange, though. You play a twleve year old chick, and when you take damage you lose armour, so, uh... yeah. Probably shouldn't play this one at school.
