So the Metal Gear series had its 25th anniversary this year. Right now, we know about three games : Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, and Metal Gear Solid 5.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance:

Prologue:

More Gameplay:

Demo of the game with commentary:

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes:

Possibly MGS5, Possibly Ground Zeroes - The Phantom Limb Trailer:

Finally, Hideo Kojima's Twitter Account, where he often posts interesting/wacky stuff:

So, what are your thoughts on these games, as well as the previous installments in the Metal Gear series?

I'm disappointed that you didn't parody the "This marked an era known as the cold war" monologue in the first post.

Fallout and Metal Gear are like the Schrodinger's Cat of whether or not war has changed.

My favorite MGS game is definitely 3. It has the right amount of everything. Peace Walker is a close second for the characters and overall story, which is a nice break from all of the "What the Hell?!" Moments from 4.

I am ridiculously hyped for Rising and Ground Zeroes. Ground Zeroes' aspect of being able to airlift out of missions whenever you feel like sounds interesting, but I wonder how it's explained in-game. Other things I want to see:
-More of Huey, Otacon/Hal's dad.
-Some more Fulton Recovery and Mother Base/Outer Heaven. Maybe allowing you to get all of the weapons and items without having to resort to farming
-Fewer ridiculously hard boss fights. Peace Walker's bonus boss fights were insane.

Also, Sunny has been confirmed to make an appearance in Revengeance. I wonder what manner of hacking or technology she'll help Raiden with.

I definitely plan on playing MGSR but I'm not sure if I'll get it at launch. I don't even know how much trailers, dev diaries and whatnot they've released on it but I know it'll be great simply because it's Platinum.

I've got a confession to make though. I've played 2, 3, 4 and a bunch of PW (it's still inside my 360) but I've never played 1. Luckily, it's available on PSN so I'll most likely play it and hopefully finish PW before MGSR.

It'll also be an interesting experience because for most people, the Moses Island part in 4 was like a nostalgia trip, but for me it'll be the other way around because I played 4 before 1.

...seriously? Revengeance? That sounds like a parody title

Metal Gear Rising was revived by Platinum Games. They thrive on insanity, so it makes sense that they would add an insane word to the title.

Also, everything even mildly related to Shinji Mikami reeks of a tongue-in-cheek style, so it probably is a parody title.

I just thought about something; what if, in Ground Zeroes, we get to meet Frank Jaeger in his normal human form? Y'know, before he fought Snake bare-handed in a minefield, died, and was brought back as Grey Fox? We did get to see Kazuhira before he became Master Miller, so maybe we'll see Jaeger this time around. Also, if he does end up in the game, I hope they gloss over his brief stint as Null in Portable Ops. Kojima has made his hatred of that game well-known, so that could be the case.

Metal Gear Solid: Fuck Sniper Wolf, I quit.
Sons of Liberty (HDC): Raiden equals Solid Snake v2.
Snake Eater (HDC): This ladder is really tall!
