Ever played a bootlegged game and thought, "You know, that was actually pretty good." I do. Surprisingly often.

My personal favorite is probable Final Fantasy 7 for the Famicom. And just look at that beautiful artwork. It pretty much goes through the story of Final Fantasy 7. The sprites are kinda nice and I like how they use a second character tile to show off the insane weapon size of Final Fantasy 7. I think it's a nice touch. The music is pretty enjoyable touch too. Honestly, I really like playing this. It's a simple 2D version of FF7, the music sounds a little off, but it's pretty good.

Little backstory for this actually. This hack wasn't made nonsensically. It was made by a Chinese company because of their video games ban. This company made a lot of bootlegs of popular games actually. Since the famicom was the only system they had for a long time (mostly because it got away with being marketed as an educational system).

Other people who talk about this game call it a labor of love and if you ever get the chance to try it out, do so.

Coming across a good bootleg is kind of hard, the only one I can think of is the reproduction of Sonic Megamix, it was given a solid Sega CD disc, no clue if it was ever sold in any illegal markets, but Sonic Megamix is an unfinished game, but what is finished is REALLY good.

Super Mario World for the NES looks pretty good, but I've never played it.
