Okay, so here's my dillema. I don't have either consoles, but I want to buy one so I can actually do some gaming, once I have enough cheddar. The current game I'm aiming for is GTA 4, but it's on both, hence my dillema.

What I need is some advice on which to get. I know there are plenty of great games on the 360 such as Gears of War and what-not, but there's also a lot of good games on hte PS3, and I really want to get all of them, but I'll only be able to afford one.

So guys, help me out. Which should I buy, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and why?

Don't think we can help you much there, it really depends on the kind of games you like, what kinda consoles your friends have and whether or not you think you need a Blu-Ray player.

If you enjoy shooters (especially the online kind) the 360 is for you, Xbox Live is excellent form my experience. Multi-platform games tend to look a wee bit better on the 360, in GTA4's case the 360 version is sharper and runs at a higher resolution, there's slightly more pop-in compared to the PS3 version but it never becomes bothersome. Also, the 360 will get exclusive downloadable content in Fall, which is a godsent since GTA4's story was over all too soon. If your PC isn't exactly new the 360 is also a great option since the PC and 360 share a lot of games.

The PS3 finally is getting good exclusives now, Metal Gear Solid 4 makes me want one, bad. Real bad, currently my budget doesn't allow it though. Like I said, the PS3's library is catching up, if jRPG's are your thing you might wanna consider getting one for Final Fantasy and all that jazz.

In the end, it's the games that count, the systems are extremely similar in their power. Check out the top-rated games out, make your judgment. I'd still get a 360, especially since it's cheaper and the new 360 Elites don't suffer from the infamous hardware failures anymore.

Top-rated 360 games and top-rated PS3 games.

Fix'd.

Sure, 360 is better for shooters of the two in the first post, but they're just so much better on a computer.

Eh, I actually prefer the control scheme of Gears on the 360, same with the Halo series. It depends, really, I tend to like 3rd person shooters better on consoles. Also, this bears repeating:

Get a 360.

I think I may go with a PS3.

Definately 360, only because I'm a Nintendo fanboy fag and can't stand PS3.

The only reason I'd ever touch a 360 is for Fable 2.

If you want a DVD player, get a PS3. The system has some wonky SIXAXIS controllers, which can ruin gaming.

That's actually not my main problem with the controller, the SIXAXIS controls are rarely used anyways, but the incredibly loose analog triggers and sticks feel really, really cheap. As far as I'm concerned, the 360's controller is the best traditional console controller yet.
