In Gen 2, their heads were about the same size as the bodies. In Gen 3, their heads were about twice the size of their bodies (when you average all three together). In Gen 4, it just gets plain ridiculous, most noticeably with Chimchar.

But Piplup has about the same head size ad a Gen2, and Turtwig has the smallest relative head size of any of the post-Gen1 starters!

Wut? I mean, I like Turtwig, but it's head is huge.

Actually, I think that it's Treecko that has the smallest post-gen 1 relative head size.

Depends if you're comparing it to his whole body (including tail) or just the torso. Because his torso is absolutely tiny!

Huh... for some reason I thought his body was bigger...

I would have posted all 12 but I got lazy midway through it...

I am mildly confused by how Turtwig is a grass Pokemon, but Squirtle is a water Pokemon, but both are turtles.

Turtwig is a tortise, or land turtle, and Squirtle is a regular waterloving turtle.

But it's called Turtwig not Tortwig

And it's Blastoise, not Blasturtle.

Grotle and Torterra are Anklyosaurs/tortoise.

I don't play with Pokemon Cards anymore but a new set got announced for HeartGold and SoulSilver. Two of the promo cards are one of Ho-oh and one of Lugia.
They have really cool art so I'm gonna post them.

Playing Pokemon Platinum really reminds me how out of date with the game I have gotten...

Back in RBY, there were like around 35 usable (As in, fully evolved, and/or don't suck monkey chunks) Pokemon to chose from...

Then in GSC, there were like 50 or so usable Pokemon...

Then I skipped Gen 3, and come back to DPP and find around 150 usable Pokemon.

GAH WHAT THE FUCK I CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF THIS MANY MY HEAD HURTS

Occasionally, I'll hear about a pokemon I've never even heard of before. This is probably because of all the new evolutions some older pokemon received in gen 4 and because I've never played a gen 2 game...

I wonder why they gave Rhydon, Tangela, Lickytung, Murkrow, Misdrevious, Yanma, Porygon 2, and Roselia an evolution.
I guess nobody used those Pokemon.

This is exactly what I was talking about! I had no idea Lickitung had an evolved form until now.

That's exactly why. The Pokemon kinda sucked, and sucked hard in their original forms. They were the sorta Pokemon that would wind up in your PC and you'd never think about again. You also forgot Togepi, which is now has a third evolution, which is one of the strongest pokemon in the game... Togekiss.

Basically, they keep buffing some of the terrible non-evolving Pokemon. Now if they'd only get around to buffing Far'fetched by evolving it into some sorta kick booty Samuri Flying/Fighting type, we'd be awesome.
