Pat is definitely overanalyzing things. Gorrister seems more like he was handed a lot of shit in life before AM took over, maybe did some bad things, but still handed a lot more shit than he gave out. I mean, from what we know so far, Gorrister was a trucker whose wife went insane with depression because was out on the road and his in-laws plotted to murder him and did. Maybe there's more, maybe there isn't. The whole thing might be AM abusing some feelings of guilt.
I think the deal with Pat over-analyzing Gorrister is because he might be thinking something like Silent Hill 2 is going on, where
the act of putting his wife into an asylum might not have been based on wholly good intentions. Was it because he wanted her to get help? Or because he couldn't deal with her anymore, and wanted her out of his life? Or, even worse, did he intentionally send her there to make her suffer?I don't think it's that last one, but Edna and Harry's actions seem to suggest the second one, at least as they see things. They might be wrong and AM is definitely a liar, so the information from them is not super trustworthy, but hey, can't fault Pat too badly for over thinking and second guessing AM. I'm pretty sure overthinking AM until you wrap around into being wrong about everything is what AM wants.

Pat thought Ted was a rapist
AM implied this pretty heavily in the beginning, although you could interpret it as more he's a lady's man and is incredibly arrogant, therefore thinking that all women should want him. His whole scenario just screams "Here are all the easy ways out, and most of them involve treating women like garbage."
I'm really enjoying this playthough. Pat has always been the philosophical one, at least in my book, which is really cool (given the "angry guy" stereotype). I like watching him play a philosophical game.
