So I take it that Luigi's Mansion 2 would be a recommended purchase?
I never played the first game either.
Yes. It might be worth tryng to get the first game (since it should be dirt cheap, though Gamecube games have had erratic pricing recently).
The only problem people had with it back then was it was too short for the price you had to pay. Though, since I picked the game up for $20, it was perfect.
I doubt the second game is going to be as short, seeing as there's multiple mansions (this way you don't have to play in a mansion the size of the empire state building to get a good length).
Also, fun fact, the original game was designed with 3D in mind. They developed the game with the hope of selling the console with an LCD screen that could do 3D like how the 3DS does. It never worked out because of enormous costs (which would mean a potential $500 add-on for a tv screen the size of the monitor on a netbook), so the game was finished without using 3D.
This was why the game was filled with so much stuff. Like the cobwebs in various parts of the room, and dust everywhere you walked and vacuumed. It was to test not only the capability of the console to process it, but also to showcase the 3D as you could see how far the dust went.
It's pretty neat how much went into this game.
