Thanks man, I'll check them out once I have some bandwidth.

Also if you want to learn fighting games (ones that aren't Smash) I definitely advise you try out Street Fighter II X/ Super Turbo with a pal, because of its extremely basic nature. It doesn't have any fancy schmancy stuff, the combos don't matter at low level and it's fast with an emphasis on smart play and good execution. It also has really different characters with very unique gamestyles, as it created almost all the fighting game archetypes with its cast.

Here its Shoryuken Wiki page too for good info on the game: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Street_Fighter_2_Turbo
All the characters have their own page listing normal moves, special moves, and some overall strategies too.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot that limited bandwidth was a thing.

Don't worry, school's almost over and then I'll be back at home with plenty of bandwidth. I was thinking of getting into MvC3 actually, since my neighbour is getting that for Christmas. I can't really afford to buy me games myself atm, saving up to go skiing.

Also I only have a Wii and a laptop.

Oh man if you have a Wii you should look into Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Pretty fun stuff brah.

Oh yeah man, I was on the edge of buying that when it came out, but unfortunately I can rarely even use my Wii anymore since it's at home. I've been thinking of moving it to my dorm though.

That's actually pretty much my problem too with my wii. Still, if you get any extra cash and an itch for a fighter, that'd be my recommendation.

I'd also suggest Punch Out because it's fun as shit, but I don't think that's considered a fighter...shit what the hell genre IS Punch Out?

Also if you're looking to get into some of the early stuff, as people said GGPO has a few good games on there to try out, and if you're so inclined or already have it you can try out emulating some PS1/2 games or of course get them from ebay or something

the idea behind them has stayed the same over the years, its just that every new one includes new mechanics and movesets. Usually.

In other news I have found a new love for KOF13"s Ralf, that dude is awesome

I'm now currently on Terry/King/Ralf

It's a one-player "fighting game", but it's more of a puzzle/ memory/ reflex game because of its solo nature. Yeah there is a 2-players mode but it only allows mirror matches, which are rarely interesting in about any game (except Ryu vs Ryu).

Aha, I'm reading through the shoryuken wiki's MvC3 guide, loving how each character has it's own cocktail.

Loads of SSF4 AE 2012 replays hitting YouTube. I'm loving it. The differences aren't that noticeable with AE, but hey, more content.

Today's word should be salty, as in the west coast sure was salty when Jago beat Mike Ross, and refused to play Combofiend.
