I'll probably get it after a couple of years once it's cheaper and has at least a few games I'm interested in.

I dont plan to get it at all :/

Nintendos disappointed me a bit, and I dont really want to invest cheddar into their stuff anyways, when I cant really afford it either... I may not even get the new Zelda game coming out...

I think it's gonna be really neat, the Zelda tech demo got me pumped for some awesome graphics for once. The fact that Nintendo's finally in league with Microsoft and Sony in terms of third-party developers is super promising.
That said, I don't see myself getting a hold of one of these until a year or two has passed. The only reason I got a Wii a few months after the launch date was because I traded in my Gamecube and all my games, accessories, and controllers with it (which, looking back, was a really, really dumb thing to do).

I bought a Wii for my sister's birthday in August so I'm definitely not getting the Wii U anytime soon or probably ever. Although I feel like Nintendo is just gonna make games specifically for the Wii U and leave the original to die

Well duh. It's called progress. You don't see games for the original Xbox or Playstation coming out now do you?

I'll hold off on buying this console until the second price drop. That should be enough time for a good stable of games. But if they get some really good ones I might buy it sooner. This means something like an RPG on the level of Skies, not yet another fucking Zelda.

If the current rumors are true, we're looking at a scaled up Skyward Sword-esque style game rather than what the tech demo did. Miyamoto was really pleased with the art direction of SS, and the developers found that having everything as vibrant as it was in that style made it better for Wii MotionPlus use, because enemies and objects "popped" more.

But who knows with Nintendo.

Personally, I'd like to see an HD Wind Waker style game.

I'm getting the Deluxe version next Sunday, already got plans to have a few friends over for some quality multiplayer time with the system.

Hoping to score NSMBU as something to play. Not sure what else I'd get for now, though ZombiU is looking promising if I didn't hate most zombie games.

I understand that Skies is a great game but calling Zelda out like that was a little uncalled for. I know each game is basically the same concept(Go through dungeons, get new items.) but at least each one brought something new to the series and improved the games in some technical aspect.

(FUCKING FINALLY I CAN SWIM! FUCK THOSE BOOTS!)

I personally hope Project Moonfall goes on the 3DS, Id LOVE to see the moon be creepy in HD 8===D

Although to be honest Im not looking forward to the next Zelda. I really DO miss my Gamecube though. I gave it to a friend, and I know hes really lucky to be able to use it (That bastard had a game Boy Player I took meticulous care of) but man, I really wish I could play Kirby Air Ride, it seems like some Gamecube games refuse to work on the Wii :/

It'll probably be March at the earliest when I get a WiiU, for monster hunter. The rest of the launch and early releases don't look all that appealing to me, but I do plan on grabbing it eventually.

Last I heard, devs were a bit worried about how saving would work on the games, considering MM only let you save when you went back in time so you wouldn't start the file and be lost as to what to do.

With a portable console, having such a restrictive saving mechanic would be weird and annoying. You could get to the end of a dungeon or side quest, only for the battery to be near death. Do you save to keep your progress, but have to redo parts of the dungeon/quest, or do you try to finish it, hoping the battery doesn't die before you're done?

Either they'll have to change the saving mechanic (maybe with a recap of what you're doing, though I don't think that would be as much of a problem), or they might have a portable unfriendly game on their hands, one that might be better for a home console.

Personally, I'm looking more forward to an ALttP remake/re-imagining/sequel for the 3DS, like Miyamoto's been planning.

With my Wii running ragged, and my Gamecube being a bit iffy (it seems like some of the metal has oxidized, and I'm not sure how to fix it), I might be looking at backing up my Gamecube collection on the Wii U. Not that that's too much of a problem for me, I figured I'd pick up a few of my favorite games (TTYD and WW especially), like I did on the Wii's Virtual Console.

And maybe this time I'll be able to pick up games I missed out on, like Viewtiful Joe.

Can the Wii U play Wii or GameCube software?

Wii software, Wii Virtual Console software, and WiiWare can be played from the Wii Menu on the Wii U. GameCube software is not supported.
