Although to be honest Im not looking forward to the next Zelda. I really DO miss my Gamecube though. I gave it to a friend, and I know hes really lucky to be able to use it (That bastard had a game Boy Player I took meticulous care of) but man, I really wish I could play Kirby Air Ride, it seems like some Gamecube games refuse to work on the Wii :/
Last I heard, devs were a bit worried about how saving would work on the games, considering MM only let you save when you went back in time so you wouldn't start the file and be lost as to what to do.
With a portable console, having such a restrictive saving mechanic would be weird and annoying. You could get to the end of a dungeon or side quest, only for the battery to be near death. Do you save to keep your progress, but have to redo parts of the dungeon/quest, or do you try to finish it, hoping the battery doesn't die before you're done?
Either they'll have to change the saving mechanic (maybe with a recap of what you're doing, though I don't think that would be as much of a problem), or they might have a portable unfriendly game on their hands, one that might be better for a home console.
Personally, I'm looking more forward to an ALttP remake/re-imagining/sequel for the 3DS, like Miyamoto's been planning.
With my Wii running ragged, and my Gamecube being a bit iffy (it seems like some of the metal has oxidized, and I'm not sure how to fix it), I might be looking at backing up my Gamecube collection on the Wii U. Not that that's too much of a problem for me, I figured I'd pick up a few of my favorite games (TTYD and WW especially), like I did on the Wii's Virtual Console.
And maybe this time I'll be able to pick up games I missed out on, like Viewtiful Joe.
