OK, so here are my screens, along with commentary. I'll start with the Black Heart Event for Hot Maid:
So, basically, I have no idea what she's saying here.
Aaaand I have no idea what
I'm saying. I know a little Japanese, and a little Hiragana, and I know that the second option ends in "nai." I seem to recall that as being bad, so I choose the first option.
And I'm right!
One thing you'll notice about this Harvest Moon game is that, at least at the beginning, you'll have a
lot of time on your hands. Time passes when you're inside, but you'll actually be thankful for that because of how much time you'll have. I would talk to everyone, forage everything, and get my crops taken care of before 11 am. So I went to look at the Bazaar, and here it is.
Lemme explain how this works: The inhabitants of the town gather every Saturday (or Sunday if Saturday is a festival or birthday) to sell goods. You can sell goods as well (in fact, that's the only way you can sell your goods as near as I can tell), and you can go around and buy goods that you can't buy during the week, such as animals or other types of seeds or ores.
These crops are sparkling because they're covered in poop.
I'm not kidding. As near as I can tell, the bag marked with a Y (or some such) is fertilizer, and the crops need it every day. Or it helps them grow.
These are rocks. They are blocking my way to this area. They are bastards.
An interesting thing is, first, the single crop per bag of seeds, but more interesting than that is the way you can water these crops. I've seen videos of various skills involved in watering, but one way you start out is that if you hold one of the arrow keys and press B while watering one crop, you'll move and water the next crop. Press B while watering that one and hold the arrow key and you'll water the next one, etc. It's a very efficient way of watering and does not take long to master.
Also, about 10-11 hours after watering, you can water your crops again.
So I ran into this girl in the mayor's house, and I figure she's either his daughter or a prostitute. Considering this is a Harvest Moon game, I think it's probably the former.
And now I run into her in the inn. I have now changed my mind.
Also, she appears to have scared off Hot Maid! Where are you, Hot Maid?!
OK, so there are two girls here, along with the father and mother, so... if there's a bachelorette here, that means... five beds.
I'm officially done with this house.
WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME, KAGETSU?!
Whoa. I'm having a Legend of the River King flashback. When do I get the raft?
Hot Maid! There you are! ^.^
Ooo! Shiny!
A gold dubloon! But... wait, what? It... it doesn't automatically turn to gold. Huh. Turns out, you have to sell it at the bazaar. It goes quite fast.
This is the calendar. Bs with arrows are bazaar days. Festival days are marked by stars. In the Summer and Winter, there are paw marks (and so I assume animal festivals), and in the Fall, there are some top hats. On the 15th and 16th (I believe), there are top hats, which are the Saturday and Sunday, respectively. This means that no bazaar is held that week. Oh, and the calendar also marks birthdays, which are cakes.
OK, so I have burst into her room at the butt-crack of dawn and she's not fazed at all by that.
WHY CAN'T I MARRY HER?!?!
Another Black Heart event! This time, it's with Anorexia Lady. She says things that I have no idea what they mean.
This time, the first option ends in "tai." I decide to go with the second option.
And... it's the right answer. Again. Apparently, I'm just that awesome.
This is the first bazaar (which actually starts at 10 am), since it's not starting for a couple hours, the mayor has some time to provide me with a quick tutorial that I don't understand except for things like B button and A button. Yeah. You have to talk to all the people at the bazaar to proceed.
Basically, all you need to know is that you go up to your stall from the seller's point and press B. You put in what you're selling (you don't choose the price, it's based on type of item and quality, which I'll get to later). At first, you only get three spaces. After that, press B (and say "Flowers for sale!" or "Turnips for sale!" etc) to ring your bell to attract people to your stall. They'll look at your items and then approach with how many of an item (which they'll be facing) they want to buy. Press A to sell one to them. Press A twice for two, etc. Once you're all sold out of everything, you can restock. You can also leave and then come back to restock.
You
cannot stock from your storage. If you threw stuff in the bin (by your house when you leave), then you'll need to pull it out of storage before you go to the bazaar, or you'll have to leave the bazaar and go to your farmhouse to get it back. The storage is through the left door when you're inside your house, or to the left part, attached to your house.
And I have now I have
sold out. The bazaar is so friggin' crazy.
Everyone wants my stuff. It was so fun. And now I go shopping! If you'll notice, my profits are more than the gold that I actually have right now because in the middle of selling stuff I went off and bought some seeds. I later buy some more seeds.
I also buy a chick! Yay!
About quality: Quality returns from Sunshine Islands, as does stacking. Quality's a little easier, though. I've found things from a half a star to one and a half stars. There appears to be quality up to five stars. Also, you cannot stack items of differing qualities (so no averaging).
About jumping: It's awesome. I jump all the time. I also double jump all the time. I love it so much.
There are a number of things I didn't show, such as the rucksack menu and whatnot. Again, time passes no matter what you do, unless you're talking to someone, but that's much more advantageous than you'd think.
