I'm totally excited, but I may wait until Christmas for the purchase depending on what the reviews say (becoming much more deliberate with my cash). The commercial is totally fucking awesome though, omg.

I'm hoping this game is really good, or atleast good.
From what I've heard from tester reviews, the games fine but the controls are awful, so if they fix the controls they have a solid game.
However I'm a bit skeptical whether or not team ninja can pull of a story based game.

I can tell you right now that the game controls fine, the story is decent, and the overall experience is worth a purchase. Combat is fluid, platforming is enjoyable, movement is responsive, and the shooting handles well.

Want this game so bad now, though I'll probably just rent it because cheddar is increasingly becoming an issue.

For anyone who was wondering, this game seems to completely ignore the Prime trilogy in its continuity. Also...

Am I the only one who thinks that box art looks cheesy?

Makes me think of Mobile Suit Gundam.

I'm actually kinda glad about this, well frankly I don't like the prime series (mostly for the outlandish amount of backtracking, I mean metroid has a lot of backtracking normally, but daisies.) even though it has a totally different playstyle.
Wasn't prime series totally different storyline anyway? like fusion?

The Metroid continuity goes this way

Metroid (Zero Mission)
Metroid Prime
Hunters
Echoes
Corruption
Return of Samus
Super Metroid
Other M
Fusion

I try to have an open mind about video game storylines - like they occur in parallel dimensions or something.

Well I believe this timeline was confirmed by Word of God. But yeah - there's no point in worrying about it while playing. It's better to worry about it after you're done with the game IMO.

Oh, I wasn't questioning your Metroid chronology thing.

Honestly I was thinking more about LoZ when I said that.

Nobody has explained to me how FF works.

But then again I've been all over Nintendo since I was 6 so I guess it doesn't matter.

In one of the new Nintendo Power's they had a legitimate timeline that matched what Le Great Handsome Oppressor said.
