Woo! Finally got my first G-Rank armour set! It's an Agnaktor X set (hell of a time getting all the materials for that) with Silver Rathalos mail for the chestpiece. I managed to cram Artillery God, Razor Sharp and Guard+2 onto it (thanks, Athena's Armour Set Search!) and it came with free Fire Atk+1, though I don't have any FIre weapons to abuse it with.

Relatedly, I've taken up the Gunlance. Nothing is more satisfying than managing to blast a Rathian/Rathalos out of the sky with an upswing+shelling.

Also I've been having insanely good luck with drops in this game. Like 2 rathalos tails in one hunt without even severing it.
Also a S. Magala tail the same way in my first go.

Maybe? Tails are not particularly rare. Most body breaks have an item that is most common to get from them, tails being a good chance from lopping off the tail. Some things you get through breaking, and through body carves or captures.

The big rare things are gems and plates. Which you will never get, until you just stop giving a shit and learn to love all drops.

I can't get the drops I need because the game won't give me ANOTHER MOTHER FUCKING BASARIOS EXPEDITION.

There actually isn't any Kirin in high rank outside of the Zelda DLC quest yet. There's Oroshi Kirin, who is the same, but ice instead of lightning. But otherwise, as long as you downloaded the DLC, you have high rank Kirin already. Packaged with Zinogre and Rajang. So have fun with that.



Your Ace Palico takes on the skills of the 1st stringers you have, so you need a bunch of cats to make him better, which is around the third town.

You have five 1st stringer spaces. Once a palico is put into one, it can be taken out as a second palico. There's a whole bunch of different types, like Healing, Support, Bombing, Launching, Fighting, Gathering, shit like that.

So to change how the Ace works, you have to set a bunch of similar ones as your 1st stringers.

So like, I have three Healing 1st stringers. This gives my Ace Palico the skills Health Horn, Detox Horn, and True Health Horn. I also have two Fighting palico, which gives him Demon Horn.

And they never, ever, ever, get strong enough to hold their own or even do noticeable damage. They're bodaciously just there to distract the monster and provide support.
