It's hard at first but trust me coal is like roaches; you find one and there's 20 more hiding behind the blocks in your walls

There is a way you can actually build a house underwater. Air and all. I forgot how though. I saw an image explaining it quite a while ago.

get a bucket and remove the water you want to replace (don't let the water on top fall or it's just a hole) then put your blocks down

I do it by making a "cave" underwater by making a shelf of whatever building material you're using and the water physics make a waterfall there for some reason haha. it's kind of weird to explain because i'm not really sure how we did it in the first place but eventually we had a big cavern to build our city in, then we busted out the roof of the cave and viola underwater buildings.

Yeah water fills whatever is below it

I once made a gigantic, really deep lake thing with a big dam by putting down a layer of dirt, covering it in water and then removing the dirt.

someone on the server decided to turn all my waterfalls into lavafalls, blocked all the tunnels with obsidian and worst of all made all the signs have rude words on them
they have some serious hell coming their way

Made a pretty neat 'beachside resort' style central base on my first play, I'll move on to another location and make a secondary base on my next play.

I dug down pretty deep and found and underground cavern full of coal and iron ore. Idk if you find bedrock or lava if you dig too deep?

I was expecting to have access to more colours for creating stuff, but I guess that'll happen when the 'Creator Mode' is released for Beta.

Pretty sure you can download creative mode. It's a whole different client.

And yes, if you find bedrock or seemingly endless magma, you've hit the bottom.

Two instances of Java on my PC are a no go.

And the server doesn't work anyway. Probably the daisies server update. I mean, it worked on v1.0.

Downloaded some skins; Currently using a 'Captain Britain' skin but I might switch to a 'Captain Falcon' skin until I make my own.

Anyone got any links to some skins?
