Bought 1, 2 and Tactics together the other day. 1 is hard and made more frustrating by the time limits, 2 is much less of a chore to make progress in and I haven't started Tactics yet.

I've also finished the main quest in 4 and I regret picking the Brotherhood for the last stretch. I was allied with the Railroad, and had done a bunch of quests with them... they were my friends, dammit.

yea thats my biggest thing with 4. any option you pick to finish the game leaves you feeling shitty. the only time i felt shitty in NV was when i had to destroy the brotherhood for house

I guess the minuteman ending makes you feel the least shitty.

I do plan on trying out the rest of the endings by branching off from older saves, but then I went and hunted down a bunch of power armour and I feel really apprehensive because if I like the end result of a different ending more, then I won't be able to bring those from one save to another. I guess it's silly 'cause I can find and mod them again, but... that took a while.

holy shit F:NV is painful if your trying to play a sneaky character, since I downed my endurance 1 point to have max Agility and then some I get fucked by Legion Assassins and NCR Ranger squads that come after me since they're scripted to find you no matter what and you can't just fuck off somewhere and wait for them to go away unless you have a Stealth Boy (which are pretty rare).

Get stealth running and a few other stealth skills, patrols won't be able to detect you when you're crouched even if you're running. Having ED-E with you also helps because you get advance warnings.
Pretty sure you can just mod the patrols out as well.

Well now that I got to New Vegas itself, I have Mixed Reputation with the NCR and the Legion doesn't care.

The only real problem now is scripted encounters like the four Brotherhood blokes who ambush you the first time you come to Hidden Valley with Veronica, all in Power Armor, with fucking Tri-Beam Laser Rifles. I had to god-mode through that because I didn't have NINETY-FIVE SPEECH (in an area you can get two pretty early if you did the Helios 1 quest and redirected it to ARCHIMEDES II) to covince them to stand down and I got hyper rekt the instant they started shooting.

Is it me or are deathclaws not actually that threatening in Fallout 4? I feel like assaultrons and mirelurk queens are the more "OH SHIT" types of enemies.

Yea deathclaws aren't that bad. Especially considering how easy they are to cheese compared to other enemies.

they can be if found early enough in your play through. but i agree, finding a kneecapper weapon basically nulls any threat a deathclaw poses and its quite funny to just the DC sitting there glaring at you while you beat the shit outta it

I did just about everything I could do in Fallout 4 without going back in time and siding with a different faction.

I'm disappointed in this game's inability to let players think outside the box. When I reached a certain point in the game, I thought I had come up with the most peaceful solution that would avoid all that endgame violence, even if it would make a lot of NPCS angry with me.

When Father appointed me as his successor as Director of the Institute, I thought I would be able to actually take charge and eventually speech-check my way through the directorate and allow the synths to leave without (a lot of) opposition, or maybe change the way they are treated by humans, and redirect the Institute's efforts. What could they accomplish if they weren't so focused on making bigger and better robots all the time?

Yeah that would have made a lot of institute scientists angry and resentful towards me but what the hell can they do to me? I'm a level 70 badass wastelander with a Fat Man. Plus I would have the support of the Railroad, the rebel Synths, and maybe? the Minutemen. The scientists wouldn't be able to TOUCH me.

Course the Brotherhood would still be a pain in the butt. But if I could talk The Master into blowing his entire operation sky-high in Fallout 1, SURELY I could find a way to convince Elder Maxson to leave the Commonwealth alone.

It's really kind of disappointing how this game treats violence as the only solution. Even if you manage to make peace one time, the game still wants you to shoot everything with eyes to solve the big picture. And sometimes things without eyes, too.

There's also a quest in the Brotherhood Questline Where you are forced to kill the Railroad and there is no way out of it except through an exploit and it's a bit sad when the choice to save a faction is completely unintended by the devs

Reminds me of NV, where you physically are not able of saving the brotherhood if you go Mr. House.

Speaking of which, I haven't even played FO4, but this is a criticism which has become increasingly evident.

Their decision to give your character a clearly definted backstory was a shit one.

This is a slight problem with 3 and NV, too, but less so. Because your character has a past, there's little to no room for roleplaying. No matter what, you will always be a former military person who got frozen in vault 111 and who's major motivation is their dead spouse and baby.

I am planning on getting the game eventually, and I had the idea of roleplaying a synth on the run form the institute. But I can't do that.

Another character I've brought over from my NV playthrough is essentially a dimensional foreigner, who has little no care for the wasteland or it's people. Can't do anything like that.

NCR vet? nope.

Legionary? hell no, Bethesda seems dead set on making NV essentially worthless canon-wise. This was a problem with NV in my mind, but at least it's character backstory was more open-ended, the only problem is all of the tutorials and exposition and pardons from Caesar.

Gay!? NOPE!

The only thing you can be is the thing the game decides you are. And that sucks. I really wish there was a fallout game more hardcore into the roleplaying aspect. As much as I enjoy the combat, that really is what I like about 3 and NV.
