Do you have the Nintendo Zone app on your 3DS? If so, go to a Nintendo Zone location, wait around in the 3DS menu, and eventually the Nintendo Zone icon should glow blue. This means you've connected to Nintendo Zone. At this point, if you want to go in Nintendo Zone and download stuff, you can.

However, for stuff like AC, you gotta go into AC after the Nintendo Zone icon glows (you can have it active and just push the home button to see if NZ is glowing), go to the post office, and ask about presents. It'll connect through the Nintendo Zone and get you the item.

Change your router SSID to "bestbuy" and go to the post office and ask for a gift.

Then 20 minutes later, my gold one appeared.

It took another week to get my regular slingshot.
