Honestly Mete I think you're over-reacting. There isn't anything wrong with Dubstep. I like it, I'm not the "lowest common denominator" am I?

No, the CoD audience is. And when dubstep is used in trailers, along with omg so cool & flashy video editing, you can be 100% sure they're trying to attract that specific audience. Halo games have always had tasteful trailers for both the campaign and multiplayer and there was no need for them to suddently change the note for the worse. And while I know that Youtube comments aren't generally very credible, if you look through a few pages you'll notice that there's quite an uproar about the music choice going on.

Not to mention they made the game look far more energy-packed and faster than it actually is by making it look like a montage, while the series has never been very fast-paced. The first one was sluggish, even.

I always cranked up the speed by 25% or so in Halo 3 custom games because the default speed felt 2slow.

In the books the Spartans are really goddamn fast and strong so I always tried to copy that in custom games.

They tended only to do that in short bursts, but it's hard not to crank up the speed and only go swords and hammers.

I think that's why they gave all the Spartans sprint by default. Remember when Master Chief ran like hell towards the firing room alongside The Arbiter in Halo 3? Without the armor ability?

Good times.

Halo 3 was really good. Except for the mission "Cortana."

Fuck you Bungie.
Fuck you.

Are you implying that the Halo audience is any different from the CoD audience to begin with?

In both games you will find 12 year olds shouting expletives, and very obnoxious adults trying to be gangsters.
Although, the amount of matches where nobody talk seems higher in Halo.

I'll be honest: Halo 4's marketing team is completely stupid. For one, I agree with Mete. Whether it's part of the core soundtrack or not, it's obvious they're trying to cater to the CoD kiddies (even discounting the gameplay changes themselves.) On top of that, they're giving players Double XP for buying Mountain Dew and Doritos! Why!? That screams CoD kiddie pandering!

They're pandering to their own audience/target demographic, which is incidentally the same as CoD's. I'd say their marketing is pretty sound. I also think it's a shitty trailer, don't get me wrong, but it's probably effective.

This is a much better marketing plan than those reveal trailers.

I am hyped.
