exactly, this hat is going to end up just like the PvZ hats, around a crafting hat price

At least it looks nice unlike the other two.

i think it looks like shit but that's just my opinion.

i don't get why people buy these games/magazines/whatever the shit for the hats, as though they were gonna become the next bills. (not talking about anybody here, mind you.) i mean, just by the fact that everybody does it for that reason alone it really lowers the prices, at least until it's been a while and people start judging the hat by it's looks again. well that and the whole "genuine, then craftable" thing just puts the final nail in that idea's coffin.

not really sure what any of this mini-rant had to do with the discussion at hand honestly.

The thing that irks me most is that the Genuine (and before that vintage) attributes were added to separate them from dropped or crafted (or not as old) versions of the same item. There are only so many of the Genuine items. For example, if those spreadsheets are to be believed, there are less of the Genuine PVZ hats than there are buds. You can't drop buds, sure, but that's what the genuine attribute is for, so you can see that it is one of the few that are not worthless and there won'T be any more of that genuine item.
Like, compare it to a CD. There's a limited edition of X amount released that are exactly the same thing, but have, for example a number on them from #1 to #1000. There's not going to be any more of those ever again, they are rare. Prices for stuff like that are accordingly.
In TF2, a genuine item, theres maybe about 13 k of those whereas the normal version has potentially infinite amounts, is maybe 1-2 ref more instead of the instant equality to the holy earbuds (of which there are also about 13k according to that spreadsheet thing). And that's with all genuine items, not just the ugly ones.

Well the fact that earbuds, bills hats, maxheads and HOUWARS will NEVER drop again, they are more valuable.

It also gives TF2 currency.

what i dont understand tho, is how are bills less than a buds, when there are less bills than buds

also it comes down to "how popular is this hat"

But that's what genuine is for. Genuine items will never drop either. Only the normal versions of them. Like in my example with the collector's edition CDs and whatnot. Stuff like that can go for up to 100-fold the normal price of a CD and more.
Or as example from the newest Angry video game Nerd video "Nintendo World Championship". There were only so many of the normal video game cartridge made and only given out to contestants in said championship. Also golden cartridges given away for free as part of some kind of promotion. Those go for multiple hundreds of Dollar up to thousands. They're the rarest NES game in the world apparently. But you still can get a reproduction cartridge for 50 or so because those are not limited.
What I want to say is, just because there is stuff without the Genuine attribute dropping shouldn'T affect the price of the Genuine thing. Not as much as it seems to do anyway.

But the fact that you can get a cheaper version of the item, then people who just want the hat to wear will get the cheaper one. And if there is more of the total supply than demand (genuine or not) the price goes down.

Does anyone have a S. Direct Hit they're willing to trade?

I'm mostly offering S. Crossbow or S. Sydney Sleeper because I can't offer any metal right now (saving it up)

Edit: Never mind but I'm still offering these Strange Crossbow for something
