You want me to say words? Okay, I'll say words. Whether JonTron is 'a fan' of the game, whether JonTron donated cheddar to a kickstarter to have his voice put in the game, it. Doesn't. Matter. Playtonic decided, as a company, that they would rather let him go than have his face and his words associated with their game. Whether they gave him his cheddar back or not, they are in their rights to cut him from the game if he says or does something that they don't want to be representative of their company.

Did you know that family members of airline workers are required to follow a dress code when they fly? It's because while they are flying they are representing the airline on behalf of their families. And they can be barred from flying if they do not follow that dress code, whether they have a ticket or not.

What Playtonic has done regarding JonTron is ten times less silly than any airline dresscode, and in the case of JonTron we aren't just talking about not being allowed to wear sweatpants on a plane. We are talking about a man who believes that white people are going to be 'wiped out' by the integration of other races and cultures in America. We're talking about a man who believes that wealthy black people commit more crimes than poor white people. And no, I don't fucking care that he misinterpreted that statistic. He didn't bother to fact check and he was all too willing to quote the wrong thing in the debate. We're talking about a man who believes that discrimination doesn't exist in America while simultaneously believing that reverse racism DOES.

JonTron is a white nationalist and a racist. And he's become public about it.

Are those enough words for you?

Decidedly one-sided free speech since they won't give people their cheddar back for not wanting to support a company who folds to pressure and puts its fans second. They just ignore people who request their cheddar back for that reason and ban them from forums at worst. Well, I guess you could say censorship is a statement protected by free speech technically.

Uh, the people being banned from forums are being banned because they're making abusive posts filled with slurs and threats. Which are very bannable offenses. Also, discussing JonTron on the Steam Yooka-Laylee forums is off topic--another perfectly valid reason to delete posts of that nature.

Removing JonTron from their game and deleting/banning abusive forum posts and users is not 'censorship'. ADDITIONALLY, there is no law or requirement that says Playtonic MUST refund backers on the basis of 'wah wah JonTron gone'. They have, however, willingly issued refunds to people who requested refunds based on the cancelled WiiU port.

Again, this was not Playtonic "folding under pressure". This was them cutting someone from their game because they went off and said a bunch of racist nationalist bullshit.

JonTron's voice (or something like that) was going to be involved with Yooka-Laylee, but JonTron said stuff about different races and now Jon won't be in the game or something?

This is news to me.

Haha yeah

Anyway.

I just read Jim Sterling's review of Yooka-Laylee and holy shit he is NOT into it. But he's bringing up things that I don't think anyone else is bringing up, like the world sections being difficult to find within the hub? I haven't heard anyone else talking about that so I'm tempted to think that maybe Mister Sterling was distracted while he was playing and missed some obvious things. Just a theory.

I agree with him that the characters grunting during dialogue is annoying, even if that was an aspect of the game that Playtonic pulled right from Banjo. However I think if they made the noises shorter and a bit quieter they'd be more tolerable. Spyro: Season of Flame had little grunts and sounds for when characters spoke but it never bothered me when I played.

Edit: that's a lie I just remembered those fuckin cats from Season of Flame. MAKE IT STOP.

I wonder if they'll release any DLC that puts a better camera in the game?

edot: PSNow is pretty retarded, useless streaming format has to load all your button presses so you can't even do the QTEs on GoW3 right. Can't even do a combo on Mortal Kombat.

Isn't the streaming thing based on your internet connection? At least, that's how the in-home streaming on Steam works.

This was a cute way to suggest voices in an era when it simply was NOT possible to have full voice acting in games without it taking up all the storage space, but in the modern era it's a bit grating. I'm sure it'll be cute or nostalgic for a little while, but I'd say around the second or third world I'll probably be a little annoyed by it, unless it's really low-key.

You only need the internet to start up the game you've downloaded onto your computer, you don't need it to play a game offline.

Eh, it's awful and it has room to improve. Like, Yooka's name is said way more than Laylee's, and some lyrics are repeated where new verses could be. No "LAYLEE, YOOKA-LAYLEE" chants or "A lizard and a bat and a girl in a vat" instead of "a snake in a hat" The hat is the least noteworthy thing about Trowzer. All in all, it feels like they didn't try hard enough and only did a rap to get kickstarter cheddar.

Didn't even dare to put profanity in the song with "That's a load of yap!" All in all, the rap's not very good.

I thought Jontron being a jerk was kinda a thing with him?

I mean, it wasnt super suprising or anything to see this happen, and if they want to cut him from a game then oh well. He shoulda had a bit more professionalism. The game is costing them cheddar to do, given by tons of fans with their love. If Jontrons not willing to raise his standards to their level of serious, (A donation like he gave should at least be indicator of that. SHOULD. ) then he does not deserve to be in the game.

And I can live with that. Although Im pretty sure from those comments, hes taking it rather hard. Poor guy, even if he is a Grade-A jerk.

He does deserve to be in the game, he paid them cheddar, and it's their lack of professionalism that made them cave into into making a political statement. Basically, both JonTron and Playtonic are dumb for not sticking to their spheres.

Refusing to associate with a person who spews Neo-Nazi rhetoric is not fucking 'unprofessional'. He doesn't deserve ANYTHING from Playtonic. Stop trying to paint a racist, xenophobic moron as the victim in this situation.

What? Now Im confused. Jontron was the one doing the spewing right? I wasnt trying to defend him one bit. :/

The unprofessionalism was on the part of Jontron, not Playtonic. I mean, seriously, Jontrons done some hilarious videos over the years, he should have known about business ettiquette like that, especially when it comes to the Internet, where if an unpopular opinion appears on a big name, they bodaciously tear you a new dimension of pain.

Much like you tried on me :/ Please calm down Cori.
