E3 PREDICTION TIME

Considering that they announced Brawl before Sakurai even knew about the project I think they might play a little fast and loose with announcements concerning Smash Bros

KH does this weird thing where instead of having a developing plot moving forward, most of the developments are in the backstory, but in such a way that every game contradicts the last. It almost works when the Nobies come outta nowhere in the second game because "oh they're part of this mysterious organization and they can think and plan but not really," but everything after that is basically just Nomura drawing something dumb looking, holding it out at arm's length into your face, and asking "hey, you remember this, right. No? Of course you do."

Also CoM has a pretty contrived plot for a kid's game, and is also sorta dumb.

HAL isn't developing it this time, iirc. It's just Sakurai and a few devs hand-picked by him plus a supposedly all-star team from Namco.

Melee holds a special place in their heart because they speed developed it and love that fans like it so much.

However, many of them have admitted that the tight schedule made some of the "mistakes" in the game quite embarrassing for them. They were a lot freer with Brawl and worked to make it the definitive experience.

They do however really dislike the hardcore fanbase, mainly the ones that ruin the experience for others. They actually wanted to take away the stage and item switches to force items and stages on people, but they figured some stages and items would be annoying to the average gamer, so it was better to keep them in.

I've also heard that the main team around the Mario Kart series isn't too pop flyin' about their hardcore community, but that's kinda just rumor mill stuff.

I think what the new Smash really needs is for the extremely annoying items like the Flipper and the Red Shell to come back

Considering how big it's become since Brawl, I'd expect the Mii to appear in some form. Hopefully compatible with Streetpass Plaza hats in some form.

We know for a fact that Smash 4 will be shown at E3 because Iwata said so back in the January Nintendo Direct. So yeah.
