I've decided to pop in the demo disc of Rising that came with ZoE 2. I need to get used to the controls again.

EDIT: Kept doing the Bladewolf fight over and over since it has all the basic enemies in it, plus a boss. I can now consistently get A-Ranks on that fight.

The only real things that tick me off are the soldiers with RPGs that catch me off guard when I'm focusing on another enemy. Another thing I have to work on is being able to handle fighting multiple enemies of different types at the same time. The parts with the Gekkos and the PMCs is still a rough patch.

I still have no Idea how to parry. I can block, but parrying has too strict a timing for me to get. Dodging feels really nice when I pull it off, though. Also the only "S" rank I can get is the one for the hostage rescue.

Also also, I love the way Sundowner talks. It's so ridicules.

Hyper-accurate parrying has never been my strong suit; I can't do a Just Guard in DMC4 to save my life.

Well, just figured out there was a launcher move besides the ninja run+triangle slide. Yup.
Also I can only really manage B's for the most part, and I feel like this will be one of theses games where you run through old levels with more abilities to get the best possible ranking.

I'm not gonna be able to get Revengence for a while with my budget, so a playthrough on youtube had to do it for me. Awesome soundtrack with crazy over the top violence and some funny one off characters. It's better than I thought it would be. I'll definitely try to get it when I can to play it myself.

The part where you first fight the Gekko or the bit right after that with like, three of them?
You can stealth kill Gekkos.

I don't think I'll be able to pull off the stealth very well until I've put in quite a few hours. What I've mainly been focusing on is getting used to the controls and being able to accurately cut things in Blade Mode.

I can sneak around just fine in the other Metal Gear games, but Rising is a whole 'nother animal.

Yeah it requires you not to run directly infront of the enemy.
I just ran around behind the Gekkos and pushed circle, the stealth is practically not even there.

But as for blade mode, I just can't get the hang of it.

Enemies don't respond to noise you can see through walls and you can THROW PORNO MAGS (!!!).

The stealth isn't that hard, its just more fun to get caught.

I've beat the prologue and am about to fight Bladewolf. I love the VR Missions and the in-detail Codec calls. Glad they kept in those Codec calls.

As excited as I am for this game, I'll wait until it's cheaper and I have time for more games.

The only really big grievance I have with the game is the overabundance of recovery items. I don't need nano-repair paste (basically Rations from the previous Metal Gear Games) in nearly every crate, nor do I need a boss fight where there's a constant parade of grunts with healing items. I feel less challenged by enemies and more annoyed by them. Hopefully Hard Mode and Revengeance Mode will cut down on that, or the enemies will be so tough as to actually warrant the healing items being everywhere.

The rest of the core gameplay elements function very well. They could have used a stalking stealth mode, though; something that you activate by holding down a button and moving. This would be much better than having to tilt the analog stick ever so slightly to walk. This would make sneaking more viable, as I wouldn't have to worry about accidentally running out in the open by pushing the stick too hard.

Also, word, that is an awesome photo. I also loved the cosplayers he posted photos of via his Twitter. That Polygon Snake was clever and the Psycho Mantis, Grey Fox, and Rising Raiden guys impressed me. Sniper Wolf looked fantastic as well.
