Got 3 late last week and I've been playing it as close to nonstop as possible for the past few days. It's fun, despite the fact I keep getting killed by stuff. This morning I was able to find and recruit Dogmeat, so a few times I've had to reload my saves when he's been killed.

I haven't done a single thing to lose karma so far, so I'm so far onto the good end of the morality system that it's ranked me as "Protector."

Kind of annoying that I keep getting attacked by those Talon assholes because of it, though. I stole some of their armour but it wasn't even that good compared to what I already had.

You can play 3? That game constantly crashed on me to the point of becoming unplayable, even without any proletariats.

I had to alter some game files to keep it from crashing. I'm not sure, but I think I forced the game to run on a single CPU thread, or something.

This is what I did to stop the crashes:
Quote:
Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3
Find the line:

bUseThreadedAI=0

change it to:

bUseThreadedAI=1

Add another line after it and insert:

iNumHWThreads=2

This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze.

*If the game still crashes write this iNumHWThreads=1

Hey, that's the thing I did. Still don't know exactly what it does but it works.

I've been running around dressed like a comic book character, shouting corny lines before shooting down criminals with a machine gun at point blank range.

The USS Constitution has the best questline, all because of the fucking ending. That was hilarious.

Level 30, never stepped a foot into Diamond City yet.
That's how Bethesda games are meant to be played, right?

Before Fallout 4 came out I came up that my character was going to be modeled after a private eye so when I discovered that Nick Valentine existed in the game I got very disappointed that my idea wasn't original to the world.

COBRA JERUSALEM, Private Eye, is not alone in the Commonwealth

I'm finding it a lot harder to work with my preferred fighting style in 4... in 3 I had no problems getting in close and beating enemies to death, though I guess things did get heaps easier once I built the shishkebab. I hope there's an equivalent in 4, because that's my new favourite weapon now.
Closest thing I have in 4 in terms of damage is an aluminium bat full of screws... if I remember right, the game called it a sharp aluminium swatter. I always have to have a bat on hand.

On a separate note, is it even possible to shelter from radiation storms?

You can go inside of places that require loading to get into them and that'll protect you. Or you can take some rad-x/wear something with high rad resistance (power armor, hazmat suit, etc). Or you can be cheap like me and fast travel somewhere to make time pass without taking any radiation.
