^ I suspect that this guy is going to be the main antagonist of this game.

There's theories already saying he will be either the Fierce Deity or the Gilded Sword personification.

me, I want to be surprised.

I keep thinking it's a Sheikah or something

Because I assume every character with white hair is a Sheikah.

But after getting a closer look, no red eyes. So doubtful.

Cant be possible. Ganondorf wasnt born 'till Ocarina of Time. This game is before OoT, explaining the creation of the Master Sword.

Now, wether Ganon, the boar-like demon that wields a trident, appears here is not yet known.

I'm willing to bet Ganondorf will still be there. It's far from impossible.

I have no idea how chronology works in this series anymore.

I used to but no idea anymore

I gave up trying to make sense of the timeline.

Every time I try to, I find something that creates a paradox or something.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Ganon/Ganondorf does show up in Skyward Sword.

Cori posted a theory about the timeline some pages ago:

Coriserai wrote:
Here is a condensed version of my split-timeline theory. Most of my theory is similar to the theory that is widely accepted in the fanbase:

1. Skyward Sword, which explains the origins of the Master Sword and the founding of Old Hyrule.

In between SS and OoT, there are supposedly two wars: the Fierce War, which is mentioned in Twilight Princess and is stated to have led the the Hyrulean Civil war--which is the war mentioned in Ocarina of Time, where Link's mother dies. Which leads us right to...

2. Ocarina of Time. Link is given the task of finding the Spiritual Stones, Ganondorf makes his first appearance and obtains the Triforce of Power by breaking into the Sacred Realm. Once Link defeats Ganondorf, the timeline goes two ways--

The Adult Timeline

Once Link defeats Ganondorf, Zelda returns him to his own time. Therefore, Link is now officially gone and there is no hero. Hyrule find itself in peril once again, with no Link to save it, and the goddesses send the flood to wash Hyrule away. This leads us to...

3. Wind Waker. The world is flooded and there is still no hero, because nobody was granted the Triforce. Link finds the Master Sword and earns the Triforce along with Tetra/Zelda. They stab Ganondorf in the head with the Master Sword, turning him to stone, and now in the adult timeline, Ganondorf is officially dead. The Triforce is no longer held by Ganondorf, Zelda, or Link because of the King's wish, and Zelda and Link sail off to find New Hyrule. That leads us directly to

4. Phantom Hourglass, in which Link and Tetra are shipwrecked and must find a way to continue their search for New Hyrule. Other than being the direct sequel to WW, it doesn't have a lot of significance in the timeline. But it does lead us to the next game.

5. Spirit Tracks. Set 100 years after WW and in New Hyrule, with new legends and new demons. Other than that, the only thing significant about this game is that it's back on dry land. Ganondorf is still dead and the Triforce is still gone.

6. The Legend of Zelda. This is where my version of the timeline can become debatable. I believe that LoZ came many years later, in New Hyrule. Ganon makes his grand reappearance and the Triforce reappears, back up for grabs. However, the game is so vague that it's very hard to place, so this is a very loose statement. However, the game that takes place right after this is:

7. Adventure of Link. This is explicitly stated to take place months after LoZ. But, since the location of LoZ in the timeline is debatable, this is too.

So the Adult Timeline goes: OoT, WW, PH, ST, LoZ, AoL

Now we go back to Ocarina of Time.

Child Timeline.

Directly following Ocarina of Time is

3. Majora's Mask. It's the same Link, sent back in time to his past. My theory is that he goes back to Zelda so he can warn her of Ganondorf's plan to trick her. He then leaves to go to Termina...perhaps to train in anticipation of Ganondorf, as well as track down Navi. However, even though Ganondorf does not get into the Sacred Realm, he invades anyway and the Sages try to execute him. However, perhaps because of the tampering done in the Adult Timeline, Ganon gets the Triforce of Power anyway and kills the Water Sage. The rest of the Sages seal him away into the Twilight Realm. Many years pass, Link returns to Hyrule and eventually the next game takes place, which is:

4. Twilight Princess. Set in Old Hyrule, with Ganon sealed away into the Twilight realm. He escapes (again) and Link must face him again, having been granted the Triforce of Courage. Link is also aided by the Hero's Shade, which is possibly the ghost of a Link that never got to pass his techniques down to the next generation.

Here's where my timeline runs a bit wild...keep in mind that these games here could go either way.

5. Link to the Past. This can actually go either way, because it not only takes place in Old Hyrule, but it also involves a place called the Dark World, which used to be the Sacred Realm before Ganondorf got the Triforce. However, I'm placing it here.

6. the Oracle games, which take place after the Triforce is whole and once again in possession of the Royal family. It also includes the attempted resurrection of Ganon. This game was designed to take place between LttP and...

7. Link's Awakening. This would have gone after LttP if the Oracle games had not been designed to go between them. Link is shipwrecked on an island and must awaken the Wind Fish, only to wake up.

Child Timeline: OoT, MM, TP, Lttp, OoX, LA

Other games can be placed at different points in this timeline. I personally believe that Minish Cap was the very first game in the timeline. There's no Ganon, No Triforce, and no Master Sword. It explains why Zelda and her bloodline are so powerful with a legend that predates the game, and it even answers the question of how rupees and items get into the grass and bushes: The Minish did it. Additionally, it involves the appearance and sealing of Vaati, who is revived in Four Swords, and it also includes the forging of the actual Four Sword.

Tl; dr, I am a huge Zelda nut and actually spent time thinking about this stuff.

but beyond that, the only confirmed and official timeline according to Nintendo is this:

Minish Cap--------Skyward Sword------------Ocarina of Time(Time Line Splits)-------Wind Waker|--------Phantom Hourglass--------Spirit Tracks

(from Time Line Split) Ocarina of Time---------Majora's Mask-----Twilight Princess

as far Nintendo is concerned *shrugs*

Question.

How does the "official nintendo timeline" effect your game experience.

It doesn't.

But it's fun to try and piece the timeline together on my own.

Not that much really =/. It just helps to put things in perspective a little in a series that just recently got a time line.

or did I get the question wrong?

I think the effeminate make-up guy is going to be a sage or something, he doesn't look very antagonistic to me.

But who knows

What else would Zeldafags have to argue about?

Personally I think it's hilarious when people try to apply continuity to games that are not intended to have them.

I mean, I've always taken it to be that Link is the 'incarnation' of a hero who just happens to be around when disasters occur - regardless of dimension, time or space - and that whole way of thinking circumvents any need for chronological logic.

Or, they made one up to justify making the same game over and over in different settings to try and keep it fresh.

But they don't even pull that shit with mario, who should be about 64 by now.
They just throw his fat plumber booty everywhere and people don't ask about timelines.
