Converted the Yen amounts in the Article posted to the US Dollar using a currency converter. Buying the base game is approx. 40 dollars, buying the DLC path is about 20. Buying the third, "I have everything version" is approx. 70 bucks.

bodaciously nothing about the dual versions thing is a rip-off

If each version contains a campaign comparable in length and content to the rest of the series, I'm fine with the split; I can see it as just getting two FEs at the same time

That's pretty much how I feel. I can't really pass judgement until the game(s) come out.

I'll just leave this here.
Seriously though, I feel like the entire 2 versions is a little dumb. But if I could get only one, definitely would get Nohr, so I can see things from Bern/Grado/Gra's side.
And here's hoping for Hector DLC.

More details on the differences between versions.

A few more details.

There is an interesting point about the downloadable version:
You pay for up to and including Chapter 6. Then you have to download the rest. The first download after purchasing the game and playing the game up to that point is free. The other will cost cheddar. I honestly have no idea what's going on with this, because I'm not sure if they're talking about paying for the other story choice or for the "third path" they've been talking about, or both. It's very confusing. Hopefully the localized version will not be as bothersome.

Regardless, the third path has middling difficulty - Nohr players will find it easier than their hard-mode gameplay and Hoshido players will experience a little more challenge compared to their story, but it won't be too difficult.

Sounds like what they did for the Phoenix Wright games on mobile, offering the first case and then making you pay for the rest

The whole point is that the "choice" apparently occurs after Chapter 6, where you either side with Hoshido or Nohr. Only in the download version, of course.

Welp, found out that Nohr is more like FE1-9, not including Gaiden or Sacred Stones.
I don't care about no waifus, Nohr is the only way to go.

As someone who has spent hundreds of hours doing every support conversation, i couldnt agree more

I love FE: Awakening, but its basically become Tactical Babymaking Simulator. I enjoy the hell out of it and want more, but id like a turn based jrpg to play now, preferably with more than 30 levels

If is ditching weapon durability.

Also introducing Pheonix Mode, where your dead units are revived at the end of the turn. I like to call this "So Casual That You Can't Even Handle Casual Mode Mode".

The player character is given the role of "Dark Prince/Princess" rather than Lord.

A new ability called Dragon Pulse can affect the terrain in a map.

The hell weapon management is like half the game, i hope thats only in Hoshido.
I only played casual mode one play playthrough just to see what it felt like to let characters fall in battle. It felt disturbing enough then.

Ok sounds kinda cool.

That sounds so useful, i wonder what strategies you can synergize with that

Why is everyone still treating the two games thing like Cockfighting Society, when there is another, better comparison to be made to the Zelda Oracle games? They are two games that compliment each other, and playing both gives you the full story. But they are not identical games. They have different mechanics between them. You're not fighting the same exact battle but standing on the other side of the map depending on what version you have. Only the beginning is the same.

You might get your wish.

In one of the Famitsu Articles covering the game, we had two screenshots of the Avatar customization screen.

One of the options on the male side was labelled Facial Features when translated
