Does anyone know of a mod that reduces the chance to find magical items and makes them rarer overall? There's one I know of, but it has a CTD issue with Dawnguard so that's out. I pretty much just want to make non-artifact magic items not be as common as candy.

You want less magic items, but yet you run into wizards and witches and all manner of magic users about every 5-10 minutes, and you don't expect them to dabble a little in enchanting to make their own gear better? Well that's a tad bit....I wanna say unrealistic, I know it's a fantasy game but it makes no sense.

Ideally I'd want a Dark Sun-esque sort of Skyrim, where yes there are magic-users and magical creatures but actual magic items are very hard to find.

Mostly I want to stop finding items of mythical power in a bandit camp or draugr tomb. Unless there's a mod that lets them wear the magical items instead so I can actually earn them rather than bulldozing my way through the mook crowd. The toughest bandit I fought from what I remember is a chief outside those dwemer ruins where the bandit camp has several stories of scaffolding. I got into melee with him and promptly got my booty handed to me, magic was of dubious use against him, and he had a hawk's eyes when it came to trying to snipe.

I beat him when I reloaded for the tenth time, shot an arrow at him from the ground (he'd knocked me off the previous time so I wanted to avoid that terrain), and he proceeded to then run straight at me...from the third floor of the scaffolding to the ground floor via the fastest method. Not exactly a glorious victory. I did find out though that he'd spawned with an Ebony cuirass of magic resistance, which explained his refusal to die, and a Daedric two-handed mace, which explained his ability to smish me.

I find SkyRe and I think it's called Organized Bandits in Skyrim, and possibly some other of my proletariats make the game a good challenge. I actually can't just bulldoze through everything, even on Adept difficulty. Maybe you might want to use something like that that to make getting good stuff in specific and the game in general more challenging. Unless you're already using that.
But then again, I rarely find magic items that are actually good, most of them are just some iron gear or regular clothing and jewelry with weak enchantments made by maybe an apprentice wizard at best, like you'd expect most of them to be. Really good magic items are few in my experience.

I found a mod that gives better armor/weapons to enemies. So there's more loot but it's a lot harder to actually get it since bandits are wearing mixed gear, which is a good enough compromise for me.

It's especially hard when two archers are setting on me on fire while dude with a stamina-draining axe isn't letting me run.

Bonus though is that now dragons aren't the gods of death to the NPC's they were before. They can actually fight back to a degree, which is beautiful.

Well I bought Oblivion so now I own all 3 TES games that are on Steam. I think I'll play Morrowind first though.

I recall there being an HD texture fix that makes the game looks absolutely breathtaking for its time.

So I am pretty picky about my Skyrim proletariats, but I want more... :(

Current mod list:

I want to play Skyrim sort of like... Vanilla+ I guess. I don't want too many big conversion proletariats that make it a completely different game. I just want Skyrim itself to be better.

Any suggestions? I would actually like some sort of mod that makes combat better to where I can swing weapons while jumping, and weapon swinging can hit more then one target.

Also, I was thinking about Organized Bandits(gives them "clans" and more personalized) and RNG Guards(so they aren't all the same/wearing a helmet). My only problem with the guard mod, is in the screenshots, it shows their face(lips mostly) as sort of derpy, and I don't want to feel like I am playing Oblivion. hehe
