Focus Cancelling >> Back Dash >> Shoryuken

So, i don't know how you Focus Attack in Smash, but you take the hit, release the Focus Attack before the counter lands, back dash, then the dragon punch motion Shoryuken. Tricky timing, but not unlike what you see in Fite Gaemz, I think it's a neat tool that can punish overzealous counter users and it makes sense for a legendary fighter like Ryu.

there's no focus attack used on any of them except lucario, and then he doesn't cancel it at all. it's much simpler than you seem to think.

he's doing a low, light kick to trigger the counter, then just goes right into the shoruken. it's not even difficult timing. you don't even need to do the dragon punch motion. you can tap diagonally down twice and that just works for some reason.

Well, looks like Heavenly Light isn't complete deadweight.

As I am writing this we are entering the 6th minute of this 2-minute online match because someone was lagging so badly we bodaciously couldn't have three frames in a row without having to wait 5 seconds, and it went into Sudden Death. This came right after the 2vs2 match where my opponents were two pickachus that stood perfectly still and spammed Down+Special the whole time (they wouldn't even come at me after I stopped giving a shit and just stood still in a corner), which itself came after the one where everyone but me was a Kirby and spammed Up+Special constantly.

Why is online Smash so inconsistent. Half of the time I get great groups with zero lag and the rest of the time I get this shit.

edit: And then I get fucking 75m for the tenth time today because I took the place of the player who inevitably leaves whenever that terrible stage is picked because nobody wants to "play" on it. Seriously why did they bring it back it is the worst. I'm rustled that they seem to have put so much more effort into their physical DLC than making interesting stages.

Heh, that reminds me when we played 7v1 smash against one of the best players in the group. One time we were all Pacman and just kept throwing fire hydrants and bouncing up high on the trampoline, and another time we were all Pikachu spamming thunder.

We also did a match of nothing but Shulk taunts and another match of 1 minute side B Little Mac on the Fire Emblem stage.

Oh man, I've landed so many good rests today. I'm gon be the next hbox. Too bad playing more than three games in a row with Jigglypuff annoys me.

Same. I always thought it was a dumb, nigh unplayable stage. CPUs just SD on it and even projectile characters have trouble because it's FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ANY KOS.
Honestly I'd rather have that one stage "Summit" than this thing.
And has anyone here talked about the items in this game? I mean seriously.

I don't have a problem with the items. What do you have in mind?

To clarify, I really like the gameplay and I think they did an excellent job on making varied and interesting characters while still keeping them balanced (though I question the inclusion of clones when they worked hard to de-clone the previous ones), I just wish the WiiU version had more "good" stages and didn't try to cover that up by having a bunch of stages directly ported from previous installments (why are there even two nearly identical Animal Crossing stages?). It's sad when making every stage available as a Final Destination recolor is a welcome feature.

The gust bellows (as mentioned before) is easily the worst of the bunch.
