Using his super ninja skills, Zink
closes the door behind the party, allowing Dimm to grab the fantastical piece of armour.
"What a silly question!", he says, laughing madly and clicking on Steal.
He also gives his old, sweaty clothes to Torizo.
Zink then proceeds to re-opening the door, clearly an expert at those things.
Back to exploring, the party members go with merry smiles on their faces, singing in unison and holding hands.
First comes a mysterious room, yet devoid of anything useful.
Then our heroes find a woman in a room full of boxes. "Quite fishy", they think.
Of course, TheOtherMC engages the conversation, all set to ask inane questions that were answered previously.
He carefully selects the stupidest of the two options.
"Heh", mumbles Zink.
"Yet another monstrous race? Burn them all!" yells Dimm in his subtlety.
After which they search through the crates and barrels, finding arrows and javelins for Zink, more proficient with thrown weapons.
The party then rushes to find more closed doors to bash.
"Female soldiers? Inconceivable." Dimm comments, before receiving a strategically placed kick from Torizo.
"Hmph", Zink comments.
Another locked door? Fantastical. Dimm runs into it and...
...takes some damage before succeeding. Good thing health is restored over time.
These cows are quite the philosophers.
The party sadly does not find anything useful, except for some mushrooms.
"...", notes Zink.
Those small rooms are apparently dedicated to abandoning other adventurers behind, to rot until they become useful again, if ever.
"Oh, look, a friendly soldier!" says MC. "Let's talk to him!"
"There, there", Torizo whispered as tears rolled down the hooded man's cheeks, his feelings hurt for ever by the filthy, arrogant warrior.
To comfort him, the party decided to steal his stuff.
Sadly, the risk was simply too high to justify this revenge.
Oh, joy! Torizo can finally wear pants, and Zink a cape!
Two locked doors over there. Nothing that can stop Dimm, right?
Almost. He gets hurt again bashing into it. Fortunately, Torizo is there to comfort him.
Upon finding a book in the room, she runs up to it excitedly. Indeed, the mage had not read a book in months, but her addiction was still not cured completely.
Torizo stares at the floor in shame, her mystic powers still not powerful enough to decipher the magical runes. Fort Avernum quite lowered our team's morale.
The next locked door, though, is no problem for Dimm, who grunts and shows off his sweaty abs.
Zink's skills are once again put to use, as he closes the door swiftly with great agility, allowing the party to borrow some silver coins, cool-looking pants, and a dice.
But wait... what's this in the bookshelf?
Score! The scroll is given to Dimm (but might be transferred to MC later), as he cannot cast any spells, to give him some flexibility in his attacks.
They also find some trash on the ground.
She does not reply anything very interesting. We learn that she is Tor's wife, though, and talk about him.
"Interesting..." whispers Torizo mysteriously.
MC then asks her about her cooking skills.
It's too bad we don't get to
actually hear it.
We also find this other man, who merely talks about mushrooms and vegetation.
And with that, our heroes are done exploring Fort Avernum and are ready to depart.
Each character sheds a single tear before leaving Fort Avernum, swearing to return to learn the spell and perhaps kill a guard.
Before that, though, there are a few things to grab around the fort's walls.
The boots are given to Zimm, as his feet smell the worst.
There is also what looks like a dead body.
It's got some cool pieces of equipment. The shield is given to Dimm, and his previous one to Zink, as well as the extra pair of boots. He gratefully mumbles an unintelligible sound.
Onwards!
How fascinating. This is the Overworld. Monsters lurk out there, and roads lead to other forts, towns, cities.
What should we do next?
