And seem to fail to understand that this is the 5th generation of handhelds.

Look there is one half of people saying one thing and another half saying the exact opposite.

You can't really blame me for misunderstanding what it is. Especially with how much Nintendo has been milking the DS.


But, hey, if this is really the next generation of handhelds, maybe the PSP2 will be announced soon! That would be an announcement that I would actually care about!

Zink, I thought we had all established and agreed that this is a new system. But if you don't want to take our words for it, I suppose you could just read the actual article.

Also, Plasma and Karilyn tend to know what's up. It would not be unwise to listen to them at times like this.

No one ever made me buy a DS Lite or DSi. I bought the DS Brick, and it was a perfectly good and reliable system. If I have the cheddar, and if the games look good, I'll buy this new system. If they make some newer version of it, I probably won't buy it.

How are handheld remakes, such as the DS Lite or the GBA SP any different from new cell phones? I mean, sure, some are better than others, but they're still cell phones. If you refuse to buy technology with the logic that something new and better will come out, you're probably never going to buy anything ever.

also, the 3D joystick and the 3D itself just seems like a big gimmick, like the motion crap with the wii. unless it actually adds a different element to the games it's really just oh look at me 3D, like twilight princess, oh look at me motion and pointing.

i'm also very skeptical about the idea of the 3D joystick, but we'll see. i'd much rather have physical analog nubs or something, but not like the shitty ones on the psp

The touch screen and microphone on the original DS were pretty gimmicky, but many developers took advantage of them very well.
If 3D is gimmicky, why isn't HD considered the same?

the touchscreen wasn't THAT gimmicky, it actually resulted in some pretty fun games and useful features

the microphone seemed pretty stupid though, most of the games i played using the microphone were sort of like "blow onto your console and look like a retard without really enhancing the gameplay"

i just hope they don't add some new gimmick to the 3DS and then all the third party publishers release shitty gimmicky games COUGHWIICOUGH



Well, 3D is a relatively new technology that isn't widely used yet, and is a pretty big change for most people. most people aren't used to electronic devices displaying 3D images, so nintendo can use the newness of the technology to make the system seem more exciting

HD is just pretty, nice looking images

If it's backwards-compatible with the DSi, does that mean it will include cameras?

I'm pretty sure that if the touch screen controls were never used properly, everyone would be calling it a gimmick now.

the touch screen is not a gimmick because it actually adds interesting and fun elements of gameplay

the microphone was kind of useless though, but it's fun to play with on the dsi
