I'm just about to start up Animal Crossing: New Leaf! I'm so excited! I completely forgot that it's been almost three years since was announced.




I know, but the person I was replying to hasn't played an Animal Crossing since the first one and he asked what has been changed since then.

Finally got apples and set up.

Fudged a bit with time accidentally because I had it set wrong. Whoops.

Anyways, helpful info for people:

-You seem to always start with a single piece of delicious fruit (rare fruit that looks different than the fruit on the trees and that sells really high) in your town. You'll want to plant it ASAP to grow a delicious fruit tree. Just make sure not to plant it somewhere where it will die. A delicious fruit from your town will sell for 600 at the local store and 3000 at a town with a different local fruit.

-If you listen to Isabelle's advise, she'll talk about going to the beach and bringing her a shell. If you do this, she'll give you a basket of non-native town fruit (I got 3 Oranges).

-Isabelle will give you a shovel if you ask for one from her (I think), and she'll give you either a fishing rod or a bug's net if you say you're interested in doing that but you don't have one. This is useful to get the opposite item if one isn't in the shop (shop seems to stock shovel and either rod or net).

-When you finish her advise, you'll get a watering can. This is the only way to get it before the plant store opens, and by then, your flowers may be pretty dead.

-Getting rid of tires, boots, and cans cost you a little bit of cheddar. The only way around this is to invest in a trash can eventually. A beautiful town ordinance will generate fewer of these items.

-Speaking of ordinances, Bell Boom is probably the most useful for the early game. Items are bought and sold at stores for 20% extra, but town projects and loans to nook remain the same, meaning faster gains of cheddar for paying them off (This also means perfect fruit in a town that it's not native to can be sold for a whopping 3600 apiece).

-Generally, you want to sell items at Re-Tail. You can sell it to the Nooklings, but they'll give you less cheddar it seems. This isn't always the case, but fish, shells, and furniture seems to be sold higher at Re-Tail.

-There is currently a downloadable item up for grabs. To get it, go to the Post Office and ask about delivery or something. You'll end up with a Rainbow Screen.

-drag and drop fruit onto eachother to make a basket. Baskets can have 2-9 fruit in them. The only limit is that they have to be the same fruit, and you can't mix regular and perfect varieties.

Also, if anyone needs apples, I'll be pop flyin' to help. I'm going to be offerring up a basket of 5 of them in exchange for cheddar, items, or better yet, 5 of your town fruit, so don't sell them all. I think I have 3 sets that aren't spoken for currently. I'll be online to give them up (hopefully) in the afternoon.

Isn't he cute? I was hoping for Lopez the goat but then I spoke to Gruff and I instantly adored him!

My town has Pompom, Derwin, Kiki, Coach, and Gruff so far. Pompom and Derwin are neighbours actually Gruff lives all the way across the river away from everbody else. I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow. Everybody is asleep right now and I don't have a fishing pole so there's nothing for me to do. Plus I kind of need to be up early tomorrow...


I've already picked up my Rainbow Screen and found a couple items in trees. I got stung three times and found 1300 Bells in trees. Tonight wasn't too bad considering that nothing was open.

I think they sell high or can be used to make new color options for furniture made at Re-Tail.

Oh shit Daisy gave me a bamboo shoot. Those things are hard to come by until you upgrade the shop several times.
