Aha! I thought we had a thread for this! Anyway, Don't Starve Together is super fun, and I love playing it with Noffletoff. Though as much as I love it, it seems so hard to actually get us to not starve, especially during winter. I can't imagine how badly we'll do when they combine it with Reign of Giants stuff. Longest we've ever survived is 23 days.

My favorite character is Wendy, second favorite is Willow.

You might need to adjust the resources to be a bit higher to accommodate the extra player(s) since I think the maps by default are generated for a single player.

Maybe. But we have been doing well so far without adjusting things, but that's probably because of all the farm plots we've made.

Or do my preferred method, which is herding a Koalaphant into a pen nearby. It has the added bonus of gaining an adorable Koalaphant friend.

Sloth got me a key for Don't Starve Together, but I can't connect to the servers for some reason. I was told it would prompt me to make an account, but it hasn't done that. It just gets stuck trying to connect through Steam.

Finally got it working last night. Sloth's map has like no rocks, which makes it JUST a little bit difficult for a new player like me to make noticeable headway. Also I'm still figuring out how sanity works, which kind of scares Sloth because I'm playing as Willow and keep wandering into camp at night so I don't get killed.

This game feels really satisfying when I figure out new things, like how to make charcoal and how to fend off hounds. I'm very impressed so far.

I picked this game up about a month ago and have been loving it so far. However, I'm too chicken to try out the Reign of the Giants content! Do you guys have any advice specific for surviving that expansion? (heat, cold, wet, etc!)

Any cheap tricks, essential goodies, etc, are welcome!

It's always a good idea to be near beefalo like Riku said, that way you can get warm. Trees are helpful when it's raining a lot, and I don't trust umbrellas very much because I've gotten struck by lighting when using them. Although if you have a lightning rod, you can avoid this hazard. Ice cubs are practically necessary for the heat, but you'd better have an icebox, otherwise they'll just melt.

Also, something I do when hounds are baying, I usually run for beefalo, or to spiders, that way they can deal with the hounds.

Sloth and I started a new server together. I'm playing as Wendy and I'm honestly not really a big fan of her.

Also we've been struck with tragedy. We hatched a Smallbird(and we named it Douglass) and it immediately got killed by hounds.

You'll have to ask Sloth for more details, but I know he stole a tallbird egg, put it by the fire at night and then kept it in his inventory during the day. And apparently the amount of heat it gets matters.

When you keep it by the fire, make sure it's blue and bobbing gently side to side, don't let it shiver, and don't let it sweat. The amount of fire in the fire pit affects how far the egg should be. More fire a little further away, and when it turns to day, it gets hotter, so it's easier to kill the egg if you're out running around in the night with the egg unsupervised. If you're lucky, the fire may have died down enough to be at the right temperature when day hits.

Just leaving it out at night and keeping in the inventory by day like Sloth does is a pretty good and safe idea although it might take a bit longer.
