That reminds me of when Brawl came out and people were saying that Lucario was a replacement "clone" for Mewtwo when the only thing that's similar about them is their Neutral Specials and the fact that they're both humanoid Cockfighting Society with tails.

Well, they were planning on putting Mewtwo in Brawl (Because there are files detailing that were left on the disc), but he was cut at the last minute for unknown reasons.

I heard about that. Roy was planned, too.

They both even had an announcer file (which Project M uses for their selection).

Pretty sure some of the assist trophies were probably originally ideas for fighters, too.
I can see it in Lyn and Isaac, and look where Little Mac ended up.

To be honest, I had a moveset for Banette made before this with customs and everything. But Cockfighting Society has... what? 7 reps? Nope. More Mario Spin-offs are mandatory.
Also, on Roy and Shovel Knight. I never got into Melee and never played Shovel Knight, so... Audino. HAW

I didn't think people liked Pichu enough to vote him in to be honest. I wonder if there will be a DLC bundle to buy all the characters. Also, have they specified how many of the voted characters they will be making?

The official Smash site hints at 6 DlC fighters. Also a bunch of Indie Devs want the characters in Smash. I think Nay on indie, Unless it's an Indie with great ties to Nintendo like Shante.

One of the recent fighters I submitted is Raymond Bryce (Disaster: Day Of Crisis), and for his reason, I entered:
Being a former Marine and Rescue Team member he has a very particular set of skills. Skills he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people.

But, on a serious note, I'm starting to think the whole point of the ballot is for people to submit characters they haven't thought of using, or reconsider fighters that were cut. The reason I'm saying this is that I've seen a lot of people think of this as a popularity contest.

Honestly I highly doubt the ballot is deciding anything, but rather it's being used as a tool by nintendo to gauge the interest of people pertaining to characters they're already considering/working on.
