I give Sony points for the crushing burns because there's something beautiful about that moment where someone makes a huge fumble, lobs the ball just perfectly, and the receiving player just absolutely blows it away for the win.

Not just talking about videogame conferences here either.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that Sony has likely put an end to the all-devouring black hole of videogame cancer that is Microsoft. Depending on how the library turns out, I'll almost certainly get a PS4 somewhere down the line.

I just don't think that extra points should be given for "we're not completely awful"

This is video games.

No one is allowed to have fun.

Anyways, is anyone going to try going to best buy to play demos tomorrow or Saturday? They'll have Donkey Kong Country:Tropical Freeze, Wind Waker, Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart 8.

Here's more info and locations. Not every best buy will have them. Also, note the time slots.

I think they should be given if the other party thinks being completely awful is acceptable behaviour.

The closest participating best buy to me is halfway across the state, so no.

Luckily I'm like 30 minutes away from one.

I will do it for you, my brothers.

If I don't die from hip pain.

Don't make this so easy, Kamkam.

You will be devoured by the legion of children there before your hip becomes an issue.

Looking around Amazon for 3DS prices. Looks like it's gotten fairly cheap outside of sales, so I'll wait until it's on sale. Got a ton of games staring me in the face under the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" tab. Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei, Tales of the Abyss (does it take forever to load overworld battles like the PS2 version though?), etc. Good library.

Same here. I find it amazing that while Microsoft can be trying to take advantage of "huehue we are a monopoly, so we can do whatever we want", Sony can be a white knight and be all "for gamers, by gamers".

Still, like you said, Sony still needs to gain my trust, and doesn't get a free pass.

Sony may have been more amusing, but I don't think that counts for much. Microsoft's bullshit cost them loads, yeah, but Sony and Nintendo both avoided the dumb stuff. They're even on that ground, and I feel Nintendo had the stronger showing of games.

What matters is:
-Xbone is a nigh Orwellian shitfest
-PS4 is decent, has games
-Wii U is decent, has games in which I am interested

It's worth noting that the PS4 may actually still fall behind the Wii U in terms of being user friendly, as Sony has put in tools for developers to implement their own DRM. I'm expecting something terrible from EA, Activision, etc. on PS4 that simply wouldn't be possible on Wii U.

Have those optional DRM things for the PS4 even been confirmed? Any way, DRM has always been up to the publishers. You don't really need anything extra put into the console itself to implement draconian things like always requiring an internet connection.

Good thing we're not giving points then, that would be rather silly.
