Whoops, it's Day Three and I just got my free Magic Bean, but now I know what to do, so it's time to reset.

*Resets to Day One*

*Loses bean*

Ah well, whatever, I'll just get another one.

*Goes back to Magic Bean man*

"Welcome back. Here for another bean? That'll be 10 Rupees."

BUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSHIT. I get that it's there to prevent exploiting free beans, but REALLY? I didn't even plant the first one I got!

But then I got to Woodfall Temple and I started having more fun.

And then the moon came a-tumblin down.

But still fun!

OK, you know what? No. No, this isn't fun. I'm sorry for every Majora's Mask fan I'm offending by saying this but THIS ISN'T FUN. This is just making me angry. I beat the first temple and missed ONE FUCKING FAIRY and now I have to do THE ENTIRE THING OVER AGAIN? Just because I don't have enough time to search every single solitary crevice for this stupid thing? Yeah, no. Fuck this game. Having to do the same menial tasks OVER and OVER and OVER again because I don't know what I'm doing is absolutely infuriating. This feels like a chore. This feels like I have to be absolutely perfect or it's all a wasted effort. Why do I lose almost all my goddamn items when I reset back to Day One? Seriously? Almost everything? Why can't I keep my stray fairies in case, I don't know, I FUCKING MISSED ONE BECAUSE I'M A HUMAN BEING WHO ISN'T PERFECT AND DOESN'T KNOW EVERYTHING?

The Great Fairy Mask? Apparently its hair shimmers when you're near a fairy, but I have never seen that happen one goddamn time. Useless.

The compass? Only tells you where the fairies you've already collected are. Useless.

So now I have to do all of this over again and use a walkthrough because all the help the game is giving me is FUCKING USELESS.

GOD THIS GAME IS A CHORE.

y-y'know the stray faries thing is optional.

Like all it gives you is a boost to your magic bar which isn't really necessary because they give you magic every five seconds.

MM is really not a game for a completionist because a lot of the optional content takes a ton of hindsight to get down. My first paly-through I got none of the stray faries because I found it unnecessary and for the other optional masks I went and got em around the 75% mark of the game when it's easiest to do the majority of them.

Also I hope you know about the different songs of time you can do to skip ahead and/or slow down time, yeah?

The Fairy mask's hair kinda floats up when you're in a room with a fairy.

I know the fairies are optional, but I still want to collect them. And revisiting dungeons isn't really something I've ever liked doing in Zelda games. And I only have the one Song of Time for now.

But

But it does that all the time????????

I think this is just going to be my unpopular opinion. I honestly hate Majora's Mask. Still going to finish it, but yeah.

Oh, and no aiming reticule on the bow is dumb. That annoyed me in OoT and it's still annoying here. There's no reason to keep that for the 3DS port.

It, uh... floats up more than usual? It's kinda hard to notice but once you see the difference it's easy to spot.
try it out in a room you know where there's a fairy and a room without one. Stand still while wearing the mask and you can see the difference.

BTW, I probably missed the same one on my first try of the woodfall temple. I even ran through the whole temple again multiple times until the last day was up to find it. It's the one in the bee hive, isn't it.

The ones Vax talked about don't appear in the menu (unless they changed it in the remake). Talk to the scarecrow in the shop in West Clock Town. They're a must-have.
I don't think you're expected to get the fairies in your first run through the dungeons. Just focus and the dungeon and come back for them when you feel like it.
Also with one bomb and the bunny hood (which you should try getting anyway, especially if you feel going through the game is a chore) you can get 200 rupees in a minute in East Clock Town. That should be enough to buy equipment and stuff every time you go back in time.

Wait what? I thought the scarecrow was in the observatory? Or is that a different one?

It's a different one. I don't remember what the one in the observatory says.

Also yeah Majora's Mask can be very confusing if you haven't played it before. Figuring what you can do and what you're supposed to do is a big part of the gameplay, unlike later Zeldas which feature more and more railroading.

I think the Scarecrow's in the Curiosity Shop, or at least in that part of Clock Town.

Also, is it just me, or does the Great Fairy Mask not work as well in the 3DS version? The N64 version had a bunch of sparkles and flashy lights, this one only has a small raise in the hair.

OK, so I may not have given the game a fair chance. It does get a lot more bearable when you can slow time down.

Also the Swamp Skull House was fun.

I do wish they were more upfront about the songs of inverted time and double time. I don't know how you're supposed to complete the game without them. I mean, I'm sure it's possible, but not if you want to keep your sanity.

Not even bragging, but I figured out the reverse song of time back in the day without the scarecrows. I just figured it might be a thing. Never guessed the double time song though.

Oooooooh, the doggy racetrack. That thing is terrible! One of least favorite pieces of heart I've ever gotten ever! (which isn't saying much, since I've only played like 5 Zelda games) You have to win 150+ rupees to get it, which equates to one of two options.

1. Bet a minimum of 50 rupees and get 1st place.
2. Bet a minimum of 80 rupees (pretty sure you have to bet a multiple of ten) and get 2nd place.

This gets REALLY irritating REALLY fast, because even with the Mask of Truth, your chances of winning aren't very good, so you end up chewing through your rupees really fast, forcing you to go farm for more. Not fun.
