For defense specifically, you can:
1) Use a Special: Bubbler, of course, or another Kraken
2) SHOOOOOT: Only if you've got an appropriate weapon, or if you are doing a co-op push. I've managed to push off Krakens (and kill, if I'm better than the opponent) with a Splatling. Other fast weapons should do the trick, too, but I've got no luck with any other, personally.
3) Maybe shield, but I've neither experience nor data on this particular matchup.

also, for Kraken, you can just hide until it turns back then blast 'em.

I've never had any real luck evading a Kraken long enough to hide. Guess I just need to find a weapon I like that has Bubbler.

I'm not sure if you understood, but when I said "shield", I meant "Splash wall".

For evasive maneuvers, you really have to read your opponent: jumping when it doesn't or sliding below when it jumps (untested by me). I usually just try to take advantage of the map's layout, but it's usually not enough, so I stick with shooting when possible.

I finally got to try out the Carbon Roller Deco last night during the splatfest.

While it's not the Krak-on Roller, it is really satisfying to send a seeker at someone who doesn't run into it enough to know how to avoid it.

Also seeker rush when you're surrounded is a hilarious clusterfuck of hitting and jumping.

I have made it my personal mission to never ever pick up the Krak-On Roller. It just sits at the back of my weapons, ashamed of its lack of Suction Bombs.
I love suction bombs.
And yet I never use Splash-O-Matic.

I like Krak-on because the beakons are useful to me. I tuck them away where it's harder for the enemy to fuck them up, and I use them because my team isn't always the best option to jump to (especially if they're being dumb). It sucks when you need a second weapon to get someone just out of reach, but I usually know how to avoid those scrapes and sneak up on people.

It's gotten to the point where in turf war I end up getting less points than my teammates because I go and snap up all the enemies as quickly as I can so the rest of the team can focus on turf. I still do my part but I focus on getting ~10+ kills to prevent the other team from killing my teammates.

My favorite thing about rollers is that they're REALLY fun to fight in an open area, like in Flonder Heights. Especially as a charger-class weapon.
I admit I am complete rubbish with them.

Now off-topic, I feel physical internal pain whenever I see someone get 2+ splats with Dual Squelcher or Dynamo and then IMMEDIATELY use Echolocator. It just seems... dumb. Why waste it when you can only Echolocate 2 enemies? Can they not wait 5 seconds before they respawn?
Someone help me with this. This has been on my mind for a while...

They want to make maximum kills I guess. Which could just bite them in the booty anyway

I didn't really care.

You are the person I sneak around to and pick off first. And then never let get the high ground against me again. I dealt with so many frustrating chargers that I now have a method to mess them up on any map and keep them from being optimal. One of my friends who plays Charger hates it when we're on opposite teams in turf.
