Anyways, I think what everyone is mad about is the fact that this is a Zelda game, and not just an independant game without a heavy franchise on its back. There's an obvious sense in the gaming industry that no one is taking risks, and gamers only buys games with franchises. Well, I don't know if that's really true, but I watch Zero Punctuation, and Yatzee is very convincing. Anyways, this turns the gaming industry into a sick business where a company no longer needs to make good games, just as long as they make games with trusted characters on them.
I guess my point is that this game probably will take many risks gameplay wise if it's going to be an adventure game set in the future. The problem is, with a name like Zelda, they're no longer risks. The title is a safety net they can fall back on so that their seemingly endless suply of loyal fans will still shell out fifty bucks for it.
Personally, my fear is that arming Link with futuristic weaponry is going to turn the game into a first person shooter, or a third person shooter, like Star Wars Battlefront. Or something like that.
But the solution is easy. Don't buy the game. Well, you can buy the game if you really think it's going to be good, but if you don't, then don't just buy it because it's a Zelda game. Personally, I'm not terribly interested in the sci-fi genre in general, so I'll pass.
