Completely getting off Zelda games...

Silent Hill 1 and 2. Those are the only ones of the series I played, and they are freaky. I've heard 3 was alright and 4 was pretty good, but I have yet to find out for myself. Pyramid head = the freakiest villain ever. I still get scared when I hear metal scraping on concrete. :shudder: RE4 was a a great game, but it was more of a "startle" scary. Things just pop out, you shoot them, and move on. Silent Hill had this whole aura and ambiance that sets up the perfect scary mood.

And also, Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty (whichever one that was) scared the crap out of my cousin and I. One summer, we started playing it at 7AM and played all day. And all night. At 7AM the next morning, we get to this one part where
you're stripped naked and running through this facility. At this point in the game, your comm. system messes up, your commander starts saying weird things, and the rooms you enter are labeled strange things like "42nd Street, NY." And one time, the commander comes on, and says that you've been playing the game for too long, and you should turn the Playstation off.
At this point, my cousin and I both thought we were losing our minds. We've been playing for a full 24 hours and had no sleep, so we were sure we were going nuts. Finally, I remembered the wonder that is the internet and my cousin checked an FAQ online. I'm still in his room, goggling perplexedly at the screen, when I hear him say "It's ok, it's supposed to be doing that!" One of the freakiest moments of my gaming life. The whole scenario wouldn't have worked had we not been sleep deprived and playing a game for that long. =]

When I first played Ocarina of Time, nothing in other games scared me as much as Re-deads. I can't explain it, the motherfuckers just freaked me the fuck out. Majora's Mask freaked me out too, but not as much. Gibdos are significantly less freaky.

I shat bricks the first time I lit one on fire though. D:

Now the scariest game I've played is Link: The Faces of Evil.

I must be some sort of masochist to have done that.

He looks like my school's youth minister ;__;
And he laughs like him, too.

Oh and by the way, HySpace is awesome.

The re-deads in Wind Waker scared me more than the other re-deads. Just.. I dunno. The screams got me in OoT, then they just looked extra creepy in WW.

I almost forgot the well from OoT!!! You know when you have to fight that mutanty lookn' thing with the really long neck right? I hated the arms sticking up from the ground because you have to let them get you and then you have to break out before the monster eats you!!!! AAHHHH!!!

Amen to that.

And I always thought the pop flyin' Mask Salesman was cool. He was a bit scary, but he was the good guy. If you let the moon fall, you wake up in his clock tower, and he says, "You've met a terrible fate, haven't you?" I always thought that was the coolest, especially in combination with the song of healing music.

Plus, when he pulled out the flippin' organ to teach you the song, I was laughing my sorry booty off.
