So, with the beta getting nearer and nearer every day I thought this would be a good time to revive the thread.
What do you plan on doing once the beta/game is out? Personally I'd like to make a floating island base on a beach planet and maybe start a band, if I can find someone to play with.

My previous attempts to revive the thread was... less than succesful, but I figured I'd let those interested know: basically one of the devs (omni) has started lurking /vg/ and sometimes answering questions; here's what he said:
-They're not saying anything about a release date because they'd rather not disappoint anyone like last time
-The game will still come out in 2013 no matter what
-omnidirectional stabbing for spears is planned but not yet implemented
-same for different types of ammo
-elevators might be added post-release
-the matter manipulator (the tool from the building demo video afaik) might be upgradable from the ship's engine (omni has implented it but is not sure if it will be used)
-Vehicles are almost done, though as of now none of them are playable yet
-they're holding off adding specific weapons until the weapon system he's finalized (by "specific weapons" I think he means special weapons not generated by their system, as he was answering someone asking about a BFG)
-There are some major features still missing, though he described them as "pretty much straight forward grunt work"
-There's an arcade cabinet that acts as a switch for the wiring system
-Landmines aren't planned but wouldn't be too hard to implement
-Race armor will be obtainable by other races, though it will be more difficult
-They're going to check submitted NPC names to avoid adding something copyright-protected (this was brought up because someone apparently submitted "Ratboy Genius" as an NPC name)
-He's talked to Tiy a few days ago about the starting quests, so it MIGHT be that they only plan on adding tutorial quests to the beta (That's only speculation on my part though)
-no plans for a snack vending machine
-However he'd like to avoid item vending machines run by players (apparently he doesn't like passive cheddar gaining)

And that's all for now. I'll try to update this post whenever he answers question about the game.

Pre-ordered a 4 pack.

I loved Terraria, and poured tons of time into it, and this seems like it's going to be 20x as expansive. I will need friends to go with me whether they buy the game or not!

The game is pretty weird tbh. Hard to know what exactly to do next.

I don't know how to make armor, so when I adventure off too far, I eventually die, and am confused as to what to do next. :<

Also screen randomly fogs up and kills me? Wish that was communicated better as to what is happening.

there's a bar that decreases when you're in non-cave darkness for too long, which has a big sun icon on it

i'm not sure how that could be communicated better in just game mechanics in a beta with limited tutorials
